THE THEORIES

I don't have a clear picture of who Red John is, however I want to add something. Why would the producers add the scene of Stiles doing the "blood ceremony" for no reason? I feel like that has some relation with Red John, though I doubt that Stiles is RJ? Connected, yes.

Agree? Not so much? Comment please!

So after reading the article on TV Spoilers, I will post this here, it's the author's list of 'clues' that are 'spoiler free' regarding RJ and E08. Remember, this reviewer has seen the episode and knows who RJ is, but isn't revealing him (obviously!). So here it is...

- Someone using a phrase "your boyfriend" is gonna make a lot of fans happy.
- Some calls are worth so much more than $300.
- At least two people turn out to be much smarter than it seems.
- Some people just need an appreciation.
- Remember the clues? You should.
- "Hi"
- Someone gets to feel like Al Capone.
- It's always good to have Cho on your side.
- Some people are VERY determined to do their job.

Also, here's a link to the reaction video from Americ at HappyCool who does advanced reviews for Mentalist episodes. He doesn't spoil anything either!

two things: i'd like to say I have really enjoyed the mentalist for all 6 seasons. it is one of my favorite shows, and perhaps other than House, has developed the main character as well as any other I can recall. That said, I think the writers went way overboard with red herrings, tricks, twists, and misinformation...so much so that no matter what is revealed there will be TOO many loose ends and suspicion to be able to work through or tie up...we have so much that is still unsolved - the RJ connection to the barn and visualize, how betram ended up in TT to begin with, what happened with Frye, why did Kirkland kill Lennon in the hospital, what happened to Michael Kirkland, why is van pelt so odd...there just won't ever be a satisfactory ending in so far as the plot goes, even after we know who Rj is..Secondly, I have seen a lot of posts about the RJ clue "or until I catch you" - is it possible that RJ expects Jane to find and kill the wrong man and then come along and arrest him? If Rj is way up in TT, then it makes sense that he believes if Jane screws up, he will be there to have evidence that Jane killed the wrong guy and put him away forever. Just a thought

SORRY I MISSED THIS ONE FROM SPOILER TV:

C.I This is Spoiler TV SPOIL ME AHHHH the suspense!!!
Can you narrow the list down, is the within the 5 advertised (since Kirklands demise) or the whole 7?

Even on SpoilerTV there are some spoilers that can't be shared ;)
As for narrowing the list down, I would listen carefully to what is said in the promos and in recent interviews cause it definitely helps.

So I'm still really not 100% sure, but I was reading a theory earlier that mentioned an interesting point...which may or may not be obvious by now.
In Heller's interview concerning the list, I believe the interviewer said that Patrick Jane "made a list" "that he had narrowed down to seven suspects." In which case "the list" that Bruno is referring to as legitimate is the original list Patrick Jane made. On this list, the psychic guy Shawn is mentioned. If you look at the wiki page (I probably shouldn't have...I hate spoilers), it seems that the photos on the right hand side of the page showing scenes from The Mentalist that contain that particular character are some pretty vital looking scenes from the upcoming episode. I could be completely off. I hope I am. However, the two of them (he and Patrick Jane) ARE quite a bit alike in many ways--or were anyway. So much of the other clues don't add up though--he's not young at all. He doesn't seem powerful at all, but then, when someone can get to you psychologically, they can become someone you are very devoted to. And you can con folks out of a lot of money. I don't know...just thinking. And I didn't really do any research on it, so I could be way off...

Sebastian Kovar Please tell me if this time (S6EP08-'Red John') it is 100% the real Red John we will find out IN THE END. Or if there still is any doubt about it after completely watching it. And pleeeeaase :) could you describe the moment of the final confrontation just a little for a huuuge PJ-RJ-chemistry fan :)Thank you so much for this article!!

I have no doubts this time. And without any details, the confrontation is absolutely brilliant and the actors work just SO well together!
And you're welcome!

Tr1n1ty86- Thanks for your nice preview! I'm so intrigued now. Just a question, if you may reply it. Is Red John really someone one of 7 suspects?

I think it was confirmed along time ago.

Not asking you about RJ's identity, but could you say if they explain his motivation for the killings he's done? Why he's become a serial killer or what drives him? For me it's probably more important than who he is and I'm afraid the show might not deliver.

Well, there is a great moment in the episode when Jane pretty much describes RJ and in a way, his motivation, by himself. And since he's Jane, well, it fits quite perfectly. I can't really say if there's anything more than that.

DebraFan "Jane is calm, waiting for things to happen"I believe, that by naming Gail Bertram as Red John, Jane has successfully baited Red John into coming out of hiding. Red John doesn't like copycats (remember S2 finale) and murderers who claim that they are better than Red John (remember that old guy killer in S 4/5? who belittled Red John in an interview.) Simply put, he is too egotistical to bear someone else getting credit.

Naming Gail Bertram as Red John definitely sets A LOT of things in motion.
For better or worse.
But I liked Jane approaching things calmly with a kind of...hmm, confidence, I guess.

PL-Do you think we'll all be happy with who turns out to be Red John?

I'm sure there's gonna be someone who won't, but in general, considering how well it's all done, I think most of people will be satisfied with this story.

Does the character who ends up being RJ do a good job of changing his voice to match the old RJ voice we've heard?1

At one point the voice is changed and I can't say for sure (cause of the quality and sound changes in the rough cut), but I think it was pretty similar to what we've heard before.

jayroth  CarlosDash -couldn't agree more. Does the episode explain why the Lisbon/Patridge scene (towards end of S06E01) is so important? And if there's a reason to show so many scenes of pigeons in the first few episodes of the season ?

There's a reference to at least one of these things. That's all I can say.

Whome-Does the episode explain what happened at PJ's house with the explosion?

Oh yes! ;

Linda • 11 hours agoI know that you won't probably answer it :D Will Jisbon fans appreciate this episode as well?

Hmm.. yeah, I think so, some great moments between the two. As long as the fans will remember that it's not the episode focused on them.

Anestis- What i want to ask is a little out of the main issue.Do we know what happened with cristina fraye or whatever's her name?Maybe my question is silly cause i havent watched much episodes but i reeeeally liked her so i need to know :)

I agree, Cristina was a really interesting character and I liked her, but we pretty much know that her story ended back in Season 3.

jayroth  did they show or explain how RJ figure out the list of 7 suspects before Jane himself? This one has been torturing me all summer...
and when did Jane figure out who RJ really is? Is it during the episode? in this season? or way earlier?

The answer to one of these questions is one of my favorite parts, so let's leave it at that! ;) •Reply•Share ›
