By the way I doubt it is Mashburn, but i think he would make the perfect Red John.

Anybody else notice in the interview they did not say specifically that Red John is on the list, they said that Red John is "one of seven final suspects". Which, like most "clues" we get, could still mean anything - that he's from the list or he's one of the final suspects, ergo anybody. Of the list of seven, there are five suspects remaining. With all of the "Brett Partrige is still alive" theories, let's say he comes back from the dead. That makes six final suspects. So you could still add another character to make seven. My money is still on Mashburn. Then again, I'm pretty sure that no matter who they reveal as Red John, I'll still believe it's Mashburn because he just makes the most sense.

I swear I've never been more frustrated in my life waiting and waiting for the Red John reveal. Had a dream last night it was Haffner and he had vampire fangs and ran around in a dragon costume stabbing people. This show is killing me, especially with the week push-back they did.

"Wait.........I hate wait."

So,

Based upon this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwjaSWWSD60 it would seem that someone (very unexpectedly) comes back (from the past / from the dead).

So, I'm curious: if it were an off the List candidate to be Red John (which I believe is still very much a possibility in play), I'm thinking Walter Mashburn (it interesting to note that on the following link http://thementalist.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters, the list of characters breaks out the list of seven separately from the litany of other characters, but Bob Kirkland is omitted whereas WM is included), or Brett Partridge (who despite being dead, remains on the list, unlike BK).

However, if not an RJ suspect, and it's simply intrigue (perhaps a plot twist), I'm thinking:

- Erica Flynn
- Kristina Frye
- Alex Jane
- Ellis Mars
- Lorelei Martins

Any other candidates?

-  Why did Teresa Lisbon said on S 06 E 01 "Desert Rose"  :
"We could at least keep Bertram and the other seven suspects under   surveillance" ?
- Did Bruno Heller (who wrote the episode) and the whole "Mentalist" crew including actors screwed it all up in a collective amnesia attack ?
- Maybe Lisbon's subconscious was talking out loud ?
- Maybe Jane's subconscious was on the same level so he didn't need to correct her ... or his "mental palace" was really shutdown ?. Don't think so.
- I'd assume there's another suspect being hidden. A real twist & turn (as Ken Woodruff has just said on an interview : " ... just given the nature of our show and how we twist things around, and
Red John as a character, how sort of capable and deceitful he's been
able to be all these years. Don't forget, Jane's been in the place where
he's been 100 percent positive of Red John before and he was wrong. So I
wouldn't underestimate Red John ... )
- Then if there's a real hidden suspect, my choice has to be Walter Mashburn (cause the other seven are as Gary Clarke had said before "boring uninspiring farts")
- This would mean that both slept and had sex with monsters. Something
that will affect deeply whatever relation they have after Red John is
revealed (platonic love, 'siblings love' or simply love). So there's one reason there's a 2 years jump ( if its 2 years ... it's difficult to believe what the producers and writers are saying)

I just had a look at the cast list for the episode 'Red John' on imdb.com, and it says that Walter Mashburn is Red John!!! Not sure if this is just to throw us off the scent!! Eeek!

The biggest clue that gave away Walter Mashburn as being red john is when he said that he went to REFORM school  (reformation). look it up or something. it means he has a sense of spirituality and also why red john love the tiger tiger  poem . those  are the two biggest clues and the give away. Walter has to be red john.
