THE THEORIES

Guys, please allow me to explain what I feel about the show at the moment.

First of all, I'm absolutely furious with Simon Baker and Robin Tunney. I read somewhere a long time ago that they feel awkward playing a couple in love. WTF?? This is their job, they get millions so: boo hoo, whether you feel awkward or not, just do it! It's your job. You are losing credibility as actors because your on screen romantic chemistry comes across as laughable and cringeworthy. Let me make a prediction, they will probably only kiss in the last episode of The Mentalist, and even that kiss will be like someone forced two random people to kiss. Pathetic, they are actors! Basically nothing has changed, they are still co workers who are friendly with each other, so what was the point of getting them together?

I honestly think when this show is finished in a couple of months, Simon Baker can still save his career because most people wouldn't know the details of the crappy Mentalist ending. I don't want to be mean, but I didn't know Robin Tunney before and I doubt she will do anything meaningful after this show.

I have to disagree with Stoopkid, this show is not great any more. Even if I've never watched it before and I joined now, I would think this show is an average, vanilla, "meh" show. Not good, not bad, just "meh", like Patrick Jane would say. Sad. The other day I watched series 4, episode 17 when Jane and agent Darcy go out of town and he confesses Red John is not dead yet. Those were amazing times, when everything seemed  possible!

Thank you for listening. :)

Ah, come one.  At least admit Heller has a small sense of humor!  You KNOW he did this scene on purpose knowing The Jisbon Flatulent Brigade would be PISSED!!!!

So, here is a quick theory. RJ is alive and PJ knows that RJ is alive. So now that you have clicked implausible, let me explain.

- RJ wants PJ to love Lisbon. He want them to be together, maybe he wants to kill another woman that PJ loves, maybe for other reasons, I don't know. He forces PJ to confess his feelings by using Marcus Pike, He sends Pike again to challenge Jane with the "what could you offer her?" act. The chick in lebanon tells Jane that his relation with Lisbon isn't real love. Seems to me that someone wants to make sure that Jane loves Lisbon.

- Why did Jane ask Lisbon at the end of the black market episode to leave the FBI, even though he certainly knows that she loves her job? One explanation is that he knows that RJ is alive, and actually knows what his goal is.

- Red everywhere: red shirt, red dragon in the logo of a classic car, red helipad labels (with a dining table in the middle), and many more objects. Also, color changing gems, with color-changed episodes. Why name the episode "black market" when it could have been easily named "pink diamond"?

- PJ spacing out sometimes when he is alone, like he is thinking about something. He sits there on his couch, thinking, especially before confessing to Lisbon.

I don't know, seems to me like some of the ingredients for a decent plot. However, don't get your hopes up, after all, it is a show by Bruno Heller that we are talking about.

The most exciting part of the last episode was me trying to figure out if Abbott is going to have an affair with the CIA woman. That was literally the highlight for me. :D

After watching last nights episode, I still found myself wishing for Red John to return. I get that he is not coming back and that the show is going a different direction, and I don't want to just flame it.

That being said, I came up with a theory I haven't seen anywhere else and thought I would post it just because:

Michelle Vega is actually Miranda Martins, who Red John didn't actually kill. She looks similar enough and has at least some character development in the lie she told to go with Cho.

I highly doubt that this theory is accurate but if I had to pick a way for the show to reintroduce the Red John/Blake Associate/Visualize arc, this would be a fascinating way to do it.

Thanks!

To be frank I really have given up on this show - BH lost interest and tied the thing up in a crap-coloured ribbon. The end of the Red John story (and, indeed, Patrick's only real reason/motivation to work for the police) was truly awful.

The character development over the last season feels like it has been handled by a nine-year-old child. For example, how did Lisbon just become an FBI agent? Even Cho spent a year or two training.

But Lisbon was just handed a badge?

How does that work?

It doesn't matter: this is The Mentalist. Nothing makes sense and nothing means anything!

When they got away with the appalling McAllister business they clearly realised that the audience would swallow any old rubbish. And this attitude shows. The plots are repetitive, the dialogue is empty and they have replaced drama with melodrama - story-telling without a strong character-driven plot. Things just happen because they happen.

But somewhere in my jaded, disappointed brain there are a few remaining cells that believe the producers and writers are still just setting us up for the REAL Red John finale. Crazy, right?

And those few cells have been obsessing on the lack of physical contact, intimacy and warmth between Jane and Lisbon, the girl he forced his way onto a 'plane to woo (In reality you would be shot in an american airport, or be taken to a CIA torture room, if you did something like that).

"Supposing they are not really in love", my poor desperate brain cells cry out, "but they want to provoke the real RJ into showing himself, now that Jane has found happiness in a new love?"

So, could this remance be a charade?

Is it a trap of sorts?

So I saw season 7 have started, although all I feel is utter disgust when I think of the mentalist now, I'm just gonna watch it and see if the writers could pull their shit together, probably not, but whatever.
