Why would sheriff want to let the world think that Bertram was RJ? I thought that RJ wanted everyone to think that he is unstoppable, genius murderer. He wanted respect (as he showed by killing Jane's family and Panzer just for insulting him). Being Bertram and got killed by some CBI consultant is what he wanted everyone to think? And that's end of the story? It doesn't make much sense for me.

If i remember correct, that sound is played often when something with RJ is shown to us. Now rewatch last seconds of episode 6x08. That sound appears again, and a while later we are seeing back of a man with a child (also we hear creepy laugh and another weird sound).
Maybe that's the real RJ? Especially that episode is also named "Red John" :D.

The person who killed Ardiles could be RJ. Why no smiley face? Coz PJ and RJ now are fighting 1v1 to see, who is better. RJ started to killing old CBI members untill PJ catch him. Patrick is last on the list :).
