THE THEORIES

The proof(s) we keep hearing that Partridge faked his death and is actually alive.

And I admit, they're VERY convincing:

1. See, they didn't show his face when Cho checked the body.
2. It was Partridge, not some other assailant, that took out Lisbon in the house where Partridge was "killed."
3. Bruno Heller said that Partridge was killed by RJ (Now why would he say that unless Partridge FAKED his death?)
4. The presence of pigeons in the house. C'mon, why would there be pigeons in the house unless it was a faked death scene.
5. The actor who plays Partidge said that he was indeed dead and not coming back on the show. PA-LEASE! Why would the actor say this except that he was lying and wanted to trick us.
6. He is creepy and it's obvious that creepy people don't really die on shows like this--but they do sometimes fake their deaths.
7. He was dressed like a woman and feeding pigeons in the very next episode.

The proof(s) we keep hearing that it must be Partridge and that no one else could possibly be Red John:

1. He says "Red John enters here" in the very first episode.
2. They always show him next to the Red John smiley face on the wall.
3. The actor who plays him also played a serial killer on Criminal Minds.
4. The actor who plays him is said to be gay in real life.
5. Brett Partridge must be Bret Styles' son, which then, naturally, makes him RJ as well.
6. Partridge and Jane are really paternal twins separated at birth (Brett probably given away by Patrick's parents because they preferred the baby with blonde hair).
7. Because no one really wants it to be Bertram, Smith, Haffner, Sheriff, Kirkland(s), Styles, and it cannot be Kristina Frye or Grace Van Pelt because we know RJ's a man and not a woman.

The proof(s) we keep hearing that Patrick Jane has already figured out that Partridge is RJ:

1. In one episode, Jane referred to Partridge as a "ghoul" which we know is celtic for "someone who kills."
2. Jane notice the similarity between Red John's voice in the season 2 finale and that of Partridge.
3. Jane suspects that Brett Partridge might be gay.
4. Jane has know that Partridge/RJ has been head of BA all along.
5. Of the 7 suspects, Brett is the one that Jane has always personally disliked the most.
6. Jane can't imagine Lorelai being attracted to or captivated by anyone else on the list as much as she would Partridge.
7. Patrick Jane has suspected all along that of all the possible suspects, no other person has the resources, power, charm, or killer instinct like Partridge. I mean, c'mon!

1. Red John is someone from the list. Saying otherwise is bullshit.

2. If Bruno Heller wanted us to see Red John from the promo, he would have done so. Even though we can identify the man in the promo as McAllister, that doesn't mean he is Red John. Heller would not be that stupid to show Red John in the promo.

3. I believe that the Kirkland story will continue. It's weird to mention the twin brother of Bob Kirkland, Michael, without developing the story. I believe that Reede Smith killed Michael and Bob is still alive or I don't know, but the Kirkland story can't be finished just like that.

4. I am not accusing anybody yet, The Mentalist has proved to be full of twists and turns and we could expect anything from everyone. Bruno Heller did one hell of a job keeping Red John's identity secret.

Those are just my thoughts, I can't wait for next Sunday!
And I hope that this website will not be closed after the reveal of Red John, it would be a shame to lose so many interesting theories that have been posted.
Cheers!

Shawn Barlow

He is a psychic, he's known Jane since he was a kid, he has intimate knowledge of his family and "like being in his head to crush his happy memories." Plus look at the Barlow episode compared to the trailer for next week. Same voice, same ring on the hand. Same look walking into church. It's Barlow!

"Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?"

Patrick could be suffering from dissociative identity disorder, or simply having a split personality. The last line of the stanza "fearful symmetry", symmetry suggesting a reflection of Jane, fearful is his other side. That could explain why Red John was always a step ahead of Jane, and why Jane couldn't outsmart Red John. If he's as smart as a consultant he'll be even smarter as a serial killer. So that's why only he can catch Red John. When they meet face to face Jane will probably be looking into a mirror.

I'm going to throw this out there - after watching Sunday night's episode, I'm beginning to think Red John is more than 1 person.  I definitely believe   Bertram is one of the guilty party.
My theory is because of multiple layers of the organization that are involved.
I think there are more surprises coming our way.

Could it be Danny Ruskin, Janes brother in Law.  Ruskin fits the physical description and age.  Ruskin also has the same meaning as Roy - red johns alias.

Any merit to this? Comments?

Red John appears to me now to be Tommy Lisbon, the brother of Teresa Lisbon!

- He fits the physical description perfectly.

- He has an affection for Teresa (his sister).

- As a bounty hunter he has ties to law officials and authorities, especially by name dropping CBI family members.

-  His name is Tommy, which is a nickname for Thomas - we all assumed that Bertram was going into Sherrif Thomas MacAllisters storage unit in the last episode, but I believe the Thomas was truly Tommy Lisbon.

- He fits the "Wheres Waldo" description, because he appears or is
mentioned throughout the series and is in the background as a part of
Teresas past through the seasons.

-  His daughter is named Annie after a famous red headed fictional character.

-  In 1988 he was a kid at the farm, but I suspect that first killing was actually done by Teresas father and Tommy adopted the Red John persona thereafter.

- As a bounty hunter he has a good shot, like Red John.

- It would be an unexpected reveal and fit the Keyser Soze descrption as Tommy is percieved as needing his sisters protection and somewhat weak on his own.

-  He must have shaken hands with Jane when they met.
