THE THEORIES

SOME of RJ's characteristics [if forgetting something, please feel free to add to this list]:

Amazingly charismatic
Women lay down their lives for him///men want to work for him and be his friend [maybe it's his expert whistling]
even though they openly know he's a serial killer and they're probably next

He kidnaps women, chains them in barns and basements
and likes to taser, bind, torture, cut people up with linoleum knife and "play" with viscera
draw smiley faces on the wall in blood
but in spare time, he creates and runs a complex mafia police network named after a his favored poem and then requires special tattoos on such mafia people who have to chant favorite poem to each other [I wonder if he got special deals at a specific tattoo shop?]

He's arrogant, narcissistic, and well spoken, a
master hypnotist and mind controller
and yet plays "dumb yokel" because he's "hiding" that he's smarter than everyone else

well read, presumably educated

sips tea like he grew up knowing how
likes classical piano music, especially Bach

wearer of a fancy guy ring and nice looking watch, as well as fine suits

also wearer of hoodies, cowboy boots, plastic masks and a wedding ring
who will "hunt anything with a face," skin and quarter it

He's "just under six feet tall, with short, straight hair, not muscular but not soft, with strong hands"
and McAllister is 6 ft tall, long and lean, severely balding with what hair he has slightly wavy when it's longer than an inch  -- and often wearing facial hair

"Middle aged"
McAllister is more "grandpa status" [nearer to 60 than to 40].

"gentle voice"
McAllister has gravelly texture to masculine voice that he can freakishly turn into a high pitched troll voice

He's an expert in forensics
AND surveillance
AND computer hacking  [that's A LOT of training]

He's afraid of birds
but not of walking on rooftops

He's used and killed untold numbers of people
and yet begs for mercy when he's about to be killed, admitting he's sorry

He has conjugal visits with blind redhead that he hangs out with for a couple of months in San Angelo [near Los Angeles]
EVEN THOUGH he ALSO has a REGULAR job as a small town Sheriff
that he has to show up for everyday with regular shifts presumably

He smells of pine, dirt and metal -- even though paperwork, police car, coffee and cigarettes, beer, deer guts and beef jerky, grapes and wine are more likely

AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!

He can be anywhere around the state of California at a moment's notice --- from Napa Valley to Sacramento to Los Angeles to Tijuana and back up again all in a day's work!

WOW, what a GUY!

I'm sorry, I'm not buying that McAllister was ALL of these things.
Sounds like a lot of different people.

You people are stupid as hell if you think Red John is still alive or was someone else.

How stupid can people be! Let me guess, the Illumanti exist, Aliens invade and the Easter Bunny is real?

Hahaha pathetic.

Heller's made good use of color symbolism [as we all know by now] since the characters seem to be affiliated to a color

And the rainbow, of course, is also known as ROYGBIV  [I had to chuckle that the rainbow starts with ROY LOL]

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet/White

Likewise, the Chakra system is modeled after roygbiv, with each color related to an area in the body [though this varies somewhat].  Red starts at the base of the spine and goes to above the top of the head [Violet/White]

Like many, I was pretty disappointed with the "ending" (or would be disappointed should it turn out to be the definitive ending - on this like most I live more in hope than in expectation) but what I would like to say is simply this: episode 8 has been labeled unconvincing by many,as has indeed much of the content of the series, but I would like to evoke the one moment of this series which has actually been convincing, believable and which,at the time, seemed not a trick but to be true. This moment came in the showdown at Jane's house, when McAllister revealed his tattoo. On seeing this, Jane grinned and was sure he had his man. Then came the biggest, most significant and convinving moment of the series. McAllister looks at Jane with fear in his eyes and says "You've got it wrong, Patrick. I'm not Red John".
I didn't and still don't believe this to have been a trick by McAllister. This was the most genuine and powerful moment of the series.

In "green thumb", Jane made a list of Blake Association members for Abbot with some names blacked out.  But this was a trick because Lisbon said they never decoded Bertram's encoded file.

Plausible:  Abbot will figure out that Jane tricked him.

Unlikely:  Abbot won't figure out that Jane was lying about the blacked out names.

Hi everyone,

I really don't know who the god damn f**k is RJ.
What i'm sure of is that MacAllister is not RJ. BH is fooling/trolling us. As you prefer.
RJ always have at least one step ahead PJ. It is something that everybody noticed for sure. RJ is far smarter than everybody. It's obvious that MacAllister doesn't fit at all to the RJ's profile. Like if a mastermind as RJ would show up like this for no reason in front of Jane. RJ doesn't want to kill PJ, if he wanted to, it would be over for PJ a long time ago. He is playing with him.
According to me, RJ is smarter enough to not get any closer or PJ like the suspects. He knows that PJ is skilled, he can't take this risk.
I don't even know if RJ get involved in any murder. He is the king, like in chess. He give orders and the others act. He will not get involved, only if he has no choice.
As a psychopat anyway, RJ should not have resist to the pleasure of meeting personally PJ once to taunt him. It is the real RJ's power. Must be someone who met PJ and did a smile to him while he was shaking his hand. Someone just transparent, unsuspected.
In my opinion, PJ will never know who RJ is.
In my opinion, the last picture of the TV show will be the face of RJ.
In my opinion, RJ is just a sociopath who found a challenger in PJ. He has no grief with PJ, he just want to play with somebody he think at his mind level. What a serial killer wants is to get caught.
Some none sense :
RJ can't be someone of the CBI. Like if RJ could have anticipate that PJ would join CBI and the team we all know.
What i don't understand is why Van Pelt and Rigsby are excluded from the RJ's after killing history. This part is still fucking up my mind.
The secret organisation of which RJ would be a part of it sounds like crap to me. Another trick i guess, to confuse spectators.
I have no clue of who could be RJ and that's killing me. None of the suspects ( the remaining in the PJ's list ) could be RJ. They just don't fit.
RJ is a low profile, a challenger who just want to demonstrate he is the master who fool everyone he want since he is smarter than everyone.

I have posted this theory already [and so have a few others now] so it's hardly new, but I notice there are still many posting about their confusion over whether RJ is dead or alive.  Understandable!

But just wanted to say that I felt much better about the first eight episodes and the show in general after I realized that seeing the situation in either black [RJ's dead] or white [RJ's alive] -- is the problem, it causes confusion and disappointment, because we have been led to believe that McAllister is Red John, but we know that this defies logic, as well as many clues.

Thus, a new answer is needed to make both arguments work -- and that is that RJ is BOTH dead and alive.

The man who killed Jane's family IS DEAD [McAllister, an RJ henchman] -- thus Jane's killing of McAllister will be justified, and yet the person who ordered this killing is ALIVE [RJ, the mastermind], and so the show continues, as we do not know who this is quite yet.  The reason we do not have any resolution to clues is because only RJ the mastermind holds those.

RJ is one brain with many tentacles. This really is the ONLY WAY everything works together and it all makes sense.  Think about any good mystery you've ever seen....getting toward the heart of it, it's always the henchman you find first.  Any leader has foot soldiers.  We are only mid-season, so get ready.
