I swear to God. If it's Reede Smith I will never be the same again. He isn't just right. It's just wrong. It's sad going down this path.

The only two guest stars in the episode titled "Red John" is the actors that play Reede Smith and Gale Bertram. Heller can't already be revealing who Red John is? And is it then one of those? That would be truly boring, especially if it was Reede Smith. Smith is not only the character everyone never thought was Red John but also the character everyone never hoped to be Red John. He's fat, ugly and a lousy actor. I can't really imagine him as RJ.
Perhaps Heller did as the director of Seven and not revealing all actors in the opening credits, or perhaps "Red John" is not about revealing Red John's identity but rather about his young days. Either way it's in my opinion a really interesting observation.
What do you think?
First of all. I just want to criticize some theories that have come up on this site.
Red John is not Bob Kirklands brother. Red John is someone on the list. He is asking if the suspects recognize him because it was his twin brother that Red John murdered.
Red John is someone on the list. Heller has confirmed it several times. It's someone of the guys. It's the real cards on the table. It's not Alex Jane that has gotten a plastic surgery neither is it CBI Ron or Patrick Jane himself. It's unlogical, contradicting and would not fit in with the Mentalist-mystique. Those who have watched this show long enough and in detail knows this.
Red John is most likely somewhat associated with the "Tyger Tyger-Conspiracy". It's not likely he is not. Of course he is. Why would he have first read the Blake poem to Patrick if not? A coincidence? No. That's really phony.
Then who is Red John?
Ray Haffner, I would say. He has the right looks, the right age, he Visualize-connections and of course he is a good actor. He has the right level of creepyness to. I hope it's him, although I'm not sure at all. It could be anyone and if we know Bruno Heller we could be up for another crazy twist.
I wish for Red John being a singular individual. Something else would be disappointing.
Cheers.
Just let me begin with stating that people in this forum are so damn stupid sometimes. It's really dumb saying that the list we know of is false due to the trailer to "Red Listed". That's not the case. This is another list, which Jane put up to any intruder that would come sneaking into his room in the CBI building. It's really obvious anyhow. We've all seen the episode we're Kirkland's guys grabs the information from Jane's office and handes it over to Kirkland, who drinks Bloody Mary looking at the material he's got.
"Jane reveals that a list of fake Red John suspects he planted was stolen and the team realizes these men are in danger."
That is the description of the episode. People on this list is probably people we've seen before, possibly Hightower. My uneducated guess is that Kirkland, who's been looking for Red John for years for his own reasons, finds out about this and decides to torture Patrick to find out the real list of seven.

I think Ray Haffner is Red John. He's not too suspicious and not too obvious. He has the right looks and age, he is a member of Visualize and he's a real charmer. But I'm not sure. My tip to all you guys out there is to not focus on details, i.e. RED HERRINGS. Heller is probably trowing all sorts of herrings at us right now.
Be well.
Bruno heller does not know yet...and the most popular theories out there he will not choose
