Who is Red John?

Theories of melo (18)

Does anyone else think that BOTH of Stiles reactions say that Rj is not in the room, and thus not on the list. His first reaction could have been sarcastic, or surprise, or even an effort to throw Jane off, but the second reaction when he implores Patrick to look at the other tattoos means only one of two things: McCallister is absolutely Rj and Stiles is protecting him, or Stiles is letting Jane know yet again that no one in the room is RJ.

I'd like to know what everyone's thoughts are on the "roll tide" element of the show...Kristina frye says it to the waiter, and then RJ says it to Patrick when he saves him from the group of imposters. Obviously Roll tide is an Alabama football thing. So we have 1 of 3 things: An Alabama connection. A football connection. An intentional move by Red John to make Patrick believe both he and Kristina Frye are actual psychics. I've always wondered about the connection between van pelt and RJ. Could the football connection be between her father and Rj. Could Rj have something to do with the issue that Patrick says Van Pelt has never dealt with? Every other red haired character has been directly linked to RJ. Kristina, Rosalind, Darcy (kinda red hair). Comment with your thoughts/ideas

is anyone else peeved that we have no clue wtf happened with Kristina Frye or how it ties into RJ or Stiles or Patrick or anything. It is the one part of the story line that I really wish would get completed.

Im not exactly sure who Red John is, but im getting a much better picture of who he isnt. The red barn episode dates back to 1988 or a bit earlier, which means if red iohn started very young he is somehwere between 40 (at the young end) and his early 50's. I think we can safely eliminate stiles, partridge and reede smith. Similarly, I think we eliminate those three bc jane would never have been friends with partridge or smith and I believe he already considers himself a friend of stiles. That leaves bertram (who I believe is a bit old), haffner, kirkland, and the sheriff. I will be amazed if haffner, bertram and kirkland are not all connected. Kirkland is tight with the head of the fbi, hafner came to the cbi from the fbi and betram is tight with both of them. I do not think bertram is red john, I cant imagine a connection to visualize, I do not think jane would ever befriend him, and I dont think he could be head of the cbi and be red john. I also have to take into account the lorelie factor. The poker episode also leads me to believe he is not red iohn, but I do believe he is affiliated and is helping red john. I am not sure if kirkland is also helping red john or if he is being manipulated by bertram. My impression is that kirkland knows jane from the past, perhaps was even friends with his family and now looks different. That leaves the sheriff and haffner. Haffner is either red john or the third part of the triangle of disciples within law enforcement. The epidsode we see mcallister in he acts like a complete simpleton, especially when jane beats him at rock, paper scissors every time, so either he is acting dumb intentionally or there is no way he is red john. I would rule him out based on the fact that I cant see a tie to visualize, I think he is too dumb, and I dont think red john would hold a full time position of podunk sheriff. I personally think that jane has one or two other names that he suspects but told lorelie those 7 to tell red john. Red john would then use that info to look clever, but in fact he was betrayed by lorelei bc he killed her sister and now believes he has jane's supposed list. Somehow I tend to think this whole thing hinges on whether we believe shultz and kirkland are good guys or bad guys. Shultz and kirkland clearly know about jane's pyschiatric issues and it either seems as though kirkland is asking a fvor of her to protect red john or so that he can be the one to catch him. I tend to think kirkland is a good guy, that he is being played by bertram, and that shultz is in the dark and believes what she has been told about Jane and asked a favor by someone in homeland. So my theory is:

Red john is not in the 7, however, bertram and haffner are both linked to him directly which explains his fbi and cbi connections, and that is how they got wainright into that limo at red johns request. I believe the sheriff and partridge have nothing to do with RJ. I think stiles knows exactly who RJ is and genuinely worries about jane but also doesnt want jane to find him bc of the implications on visualize. Reede smith is a pawn of RJ. I believe the story will shake out that someone who is very connected to the highest powers in the fbi will be rj as we have already seen a lot of rj connecti ok ns to fbi personnel and their adamance in taking lorelie
