Who is Red John?

Theories of Topher77 (27)

Here is my question...do we really know anything?

Yeah, TV Guide kind of spoiled some things. Heller let some things out. But overall, is there really a legit guess? I tell you where I'm coming from

1) One of the constant clues regards Rosalind Harker and her knowing his face, voice, etc. But we are going on the word of a blind woman...is she blind?...that could be part of a conspiracy, a cover up or even Red John. We are all chasing this under 6 ft guy guy with short, straight hair because SHE said so. Why trust her?

2) The handshake. We don't know with certainty if the handshake was shown on TV, from early in the seasons, etc. We do know that Lorelei saw it. But here is my rub with that. Tyger/Tyger is a group who may or may not be under Red John. How do we know who she saw shake hands with PJ was Red John? Maybe that person...like Hafner might..worked for RJ but there have been so many associates, etc of RJ she might have been as out of the loop as anyone.

So overall, I guess we have it narrowed down but I think the answer of who could be anything because none of the clues came to as as fact, only as hints from people we may/may not have reason to trust on the show.

Just bring in Rosalind Harker, have the men there and have her hear their voice and feel their faces. End of story....unless she is part of Tyger, Tyger throwing out false clues and directives while in witness protection :)

I have trouble with the Bertram idea. According to the TV Guide thing and the history of the show Patrick has a weird almost kinship with the RJ. They are kind of cut from the same cloth and there is a connection even when RJ gets killed. I've never seen the connection with Bertram. He just seems like a hard nosed boss that tires of Jane. I can see him as part of Tyger/Tyger but I can't see him as RJ because I don't see a Bertram/Jane closeness.

I have to re-cite the article where the actor playing Brett Patridge actor says he is dead. There is a commenter..."Curious" who does a good job spelling out Haffner. Makes sense and I'm just trying to throw out talking points. So all credit to "Curious."

I think it’s Ray Haffner because:
* He’s a polished whistler and the psychiatrist’s notes say he whistlers
* “Roy” (written by Lorelei Martin’s sister) could have been “Ray” but as she was dying she didn’t get the middle letter written correctly
* Haffner appears in every episode which has “Red” in it’s name
* He’s witty and charming like Jane, and Lorelei Martins said Jane and RJ are alike
* They shook hands before Jane learned it was someone he had already shaken hands with
* He was a member of Visualize and was there when the murders were committed in the barn
* He said he had a messed up childhood, as someone of RJ’s profile would have
* He’s left-handed and the first episode of season 6, in which RJ is polishing the linoleum knife, shows that RJ is left-handed
* His having worked in both the FBI and CBI enabled him to make connections
* He has the physical strength needed to do some of the things that RJ did

Just for the Partridge back from the dead crowd since the TV Guide interview said some things.. A writer did interview the actor and he claims his character is really dead

http://cliqueclack.com/p/mentalist-brett-partridge-really-dead/

“I know! I’ll ask the actor, Jack Plotnick himself! He’ll know!”Me: “Hey Jack! Wow that was a wild episode. So does this mean it’s the end of your time on Mentalist?”
Plotnick: “Yep. That’s it for me! Ah well, all good things must come to a (bloody) end. ;-P”
Me: “Aw … so there’s no chance of your character faking it? All is confirmed the next episode?”
JP: “…as a door nail.”Gasp! It’s true … he’s officially done! Kaput. Over and out. Brett Partridge is through as being a Red John suspect.

But … I’m still skeptical. Not that he could be Red John or that even Plotnick will come back to reprise his role, but that Partridge is merely another cog in the giant Red John wheel-o-death. Why else would he have called out “Tiger, Tiger” (as Red John recited back in the “Red Sky in the Morning” episode)? What, was Red John dressed as a tiger?I went on to ask Plotnick about one other thing he previously refused to discuss, but now with his character gone …Me: “OK one last question: was that your voice on the phone either in previous seasons or last night’s?”
JP: “No, it was not.”Well now, that’s put to bed. But could it be that Plotnick is just being kept seriously in the dark and will be back some day? I say it’s rather unlikely.

Sorry, this is just for fun because the TV Guide article has everyone calling for one person. I've read it so I know the theory

Since Van Pelt and Rigsby are leaving the show I just thought I'd throw out someone like Rigsby. He has been on since Day 1. The actor is actually Welsh in real life and has a very strong accent. It's strange to see. So he could change his voice to be creepy or different. The spoilers say..........

That the show will end with the killing of Red John and then fast forward 2 years. So maybe Rigsby was Red John. He dies. Grace loses 2 bad husbands/boyfriends and quits to disappear and there we go.

By the way here is an interview with him. Funny to hear him
