TellingTruths is correct, in my opinion.
Brett Patridge was RJ (a serial killer getting too much attention) but is now dead.
Partrigges also was simply only a member of the TT group not the head (Partidge was in law enforcement)
This posed quite a problem for the TT group, it is because of Patridge's actions that the CBI now has the mighty PJ looking into any murders in TT juristiction.
Bertram wanted Patrick to figure out that Patridge was RJ and kill him (that is why he sent PJ and Lisbon to the desert- to see Partridge),
When PJ failed to make the connection, Bertram had Patridge killed.
Patridge having been RJ would explain a ton. (see other posts on Partridge)
However, PJ will now confront Bertram, the head of TT.
In PJ's mind Bertram is just as guilty as RJ because it was under Bertram's watch that the TT let RJ (Partridge) kill his family and now he must die as well.
Just trying to make sense of this all.
