The reason why Patrick offered his "back" / "shoulder" to FBI agent to sign the letters is to gauge the pen pressure. It seems Patrick will learn how he signs and will copy it on a legal document.
Perhaps that's the reason, why he asks FBI agent to sign multiple times!
