ARGUMENTATION

I don't know if this is just me but I hope that Red John is not one of the three,
Think about the Mentalist, the thing that makes it so intensely interesting is the twists in every episode and the way Patrick notices the details that the audience miss until the end. I think that it is to straight forward to be one of the three, I think in-fact that if it does involve any of the three with the tattoos that it is more likely that they are all Red John.

But think about it, why would Red John need a tattoo, the tattoos are so that they are recognized within law enforcement as being a member of Tiger Tiger. The group seems more like a Red John following, so he would not need a tattoo and it is not really his nature to be careless I highly doubt he would not think about the consequences if someone saw his tattoo.

My theory and what I hope will happen is that Red John is either Brett Partridge, or he is someone that we have not seen for a long time or is someone that has a seemingly minor role in the series. After 6 seasons Heller would want the final reveal to shock the audience and make them ask themselves how they overlooked the character/event, much like audiences have done throughout the series.

I think it is more likey that we have seen Red John but only very briefly, I know this is a stab in the dark but even a character like the Bald fatish man that lives in the Trailer at the circus, his name is Pete Barsocky. It would make sense to be someone like him, he has always been there and has had minor appearances.

I don't think anyone can give an accurate prediction of who or what Red John is because I think up until this season even Heller didn't know, which means that clues in previous season may have just been completely random, either that or Heller is a genius.

Sorry this is very long but does anyone else agree?
