Has anyone taken into account that the list is a "Red Herring." Jane was prepared for someone to break into his room and steal his research. He even smiled when he noticed that someone broke in. So Jane being Jane would have misleading info available. Although I believe Bertram, Smith, McCallister, and Partridge are(and were) disciples of RJ, they are not him. Hafner, who is creepy, works for Brett Stiles. Stiles is crazy and sadistic, but scared of RJ. I feel RJ and Stiles have a rivalry going since the beginning of the cult. Stiles wants RJ because he took Stiles' son, Partridge. That's why Hafner is sticking so close to the case, for Stiles. Lastly, Bob Kirkland...... He's just too obvious. 
That is why I believe Virgil Minelli(who is approximate in age to Bret Stiles) is RED JOHN. Someone who Patrick shoke hands with, but never became really close to.

RJ should have killed Lisbon, but didn't. Minelli would have let her live because he liked her.
