All of you who are dissatisfied with the meagre execution of the whole Jan/Red John storyline should watch the TV show "Hannibal". Everything you were missing in "The Mentalist" is provided by "Hannibal".

"Hannibal" dares to dive into it's Hero/Antihero a relationship without fear, with much rafinesse and psychological depth. The dialogue is wonderfully elaborate. Both actors are first-class. 

However, you should be able to stamoch a fair amount of gore.
