ARGUMENTATION

As an avid fan of the show who has seen every episode multiple times, I cannot believe the leak is real. I am a grown man and I was LITERALLY brought to tears by how horrible it was. IT CAN'T BE REAL. IT CANNOT END THIS WAY.

And as such, in true mentalist fashion (And maybe us fans are all that's left of it at this point) I am going to try to prove why it's not real. (And no, this isn't actually an accusation of Jane, I just used his picture because it is not an accusation of anyone)

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW, NOT THAT YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY HEARD. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE POTENTIAL TRUTH, DON'T READ.

== The Gas Station ==
This scene was just comical and almost looked like the gas station from Strawberries and Cream. The Bertram walks in in his hat and sunglasses and Oscar walks in and starts trying on sunglasses. Bertram gets spotted by a random police officer and Oscar shoots him wearing his sun glasses with the tags still on. Bertram leaves the phone off the hook but grabs a bag of chips and walks out with Oscar wearing his new glasses. Just a comical scene.

== The Meeting Place ==
As we know, the last episode leaves off with Jane sitting in a pew of the church at the cemetery his wife and daughter are buried. Many people suspected the next episode would pick up here, and that someone, namely red john (or an associate first) would be entering. However, the next episode picks up with Patrick sleeping on a cot (Where, we might ask? The CBI has already been taken over at this point (as it was being stripped down when he first left for the church) and we know his house has been blown up -- seems like he's at the CBI but would he really have gone back there while all this was happening? Then they attempt to look for him moments later but hes not there. It also seems like hes in a deep sleep when Bertram calls the first time, maybe he's dreaming ;)) Bertram calls again and he wants to meet up.
Patrick is able to easily convince him to meet at a place of his chosing -- the very same church we left off at last time. Now, Bertram of course arrives and ends up being killed by Oscar as Mcallister makes his entrance. What this implies is that Patrick would have had to have known: 1) Bertram would reach out to him and want to meet up. (Or Red John would tell him to do so as it seems, and that in a time of crisis when everyone is looking for him and believes him to be Red John, Bertram will still do an anonymous buddy a favor) 2) Patrick would have been able to convince him to meet anywhere he wants  at which spot he has already planted a gun (as we're led to believe) 3) He would get caught bringing in a different gun in by Oscar, but not bringing a live bird (I know people have joked about this, but thats what he would have to assume to pull off this plan). 4) Red John aka Mcallister would show up essentially with no plan for handling Patrick (who he would have to know plans to kill him if he gets the chance and is meeting at a place of his choosing) 5) Patrick would be able to get close enough to Red John to put beadcrums in his hand, throw a bird at him and then grab his gun from under the pew and shoot both Red John and Oscar and possibly Bertram if he had still been alive at that point.

How can that possibly have been his plan?

== The First Confrontation ==
For starters, the only toime we here anything resembling the Red John voice is the one line we heard from the promo "The game is over and I have won". Its shown as  if Mcallister is doing something with his neck to produce the voice, but to me it honestly almost looks/sounds dubbed over and even then only somewhat resembles the other times we've heard the voice. This is pretty sketchy, that in the final confrontation, that voice weve all been so obsessed with is BARELY present. Just barely. Next, of course, the pigeon gag was ridiculous as stated above, pure comedy but the following interaction wasn't much better. Mcallister says "please don't kill me". This is a big clue right here, would Red John really break down in such a way? Would he be a coward? All the evidence throughout the show and even as recent as last episode when Jane said "Red john would never break like that, not even as an act." We are lead to strongly believe the answer is no. Patrick himself says "So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed." We're meant to quickly forget about this, though, because the next moment of hilarity ensues when a woman comes in and approaches him and gets close enough to pull a knife on him and distract him as his arch nemesis gets away. Seriously? Red Johns brilliant backup plan, after always being one step ahead, is some random woman with a switch-blade having his back? I reiterate. Red John knows Patrick wants to kill him and is meeting him at a place of Patrick's choosing and his plan is to confront him alone and rely on some woman with a switch blade coming through the door at the right time? Right. Moving on....

== The Cemetery Scene ==
Red John has been shot in the stomach and is running around at a pretty good pace. He runs into a woman who he uncsuccessfully tries to shush at the sight of his blood and she starts screaming (All he had to do was zip his jacket, anyway). Next the scene with the glass shattering and the kids is both comical and and ridiculous. He breaks through the glass door and seems essentially unharmed and just runs off like nothing happened and then patrick comes in and gets directions from the woman. What an odd scene....what was the point of it?  This brings me to a side point that is worth bringing up here. THEY SPOILED IT IN THE PROMO? FOR REAL? Mcallister is supposed to be dead yet they show the scene with the breaking glass in the promo which reveals he is both alive AND in this case he is Red John? What a massive massive fuckup that is. Anyway, on to the next scene...

== The Second Confrontation ==
By far this was the worst of them all and that's what really sells it for me that this can't be what they came up with. Patrick chases him down to a duckpond (Weren't we just at a cemetery?) Red John calls 911 for help. What? He again begs for his life. Multiple times. once again, completely out of character. He tries to bargain with the secret of how he got the names and looks completely pathetic. Patrick starts choking him and says to blink once for no and twice for yes. He asks if he is sorry for killing his wife Angela and daughter Charlotte and he blinks twice and looks like a terrified child. Seriously? Red John is sorry? Are you joking? Patrick says Good. Then asks him: Are you afraid to die? Again he blinks twice and looks like a little bitch. The serial killer we've all revered this whole time is made to look like a complete bitch in his final moments. Why? Why ruin this brilliant character for all of us fans who love the show in this way? No one wanted to see him cave like that. Patrick then proceeds to kill him by strangulation and actually does look satisfied with himself and a bit shocked. He then gets up and calls Lisbon. Her phone is in the evidence bag (And Van Pelt is drinking a soda? Wtf did they stop at 7-11 on the way back from being arrested?) Jane leaves a message saying he'll miss Lisbon and is seen running off into the distance. End Of Episode.

So, as a true mentalist fan and someone who hopes this isn't real. I ask you guys, would the crew that wrote Starwberries and Cream come up with an episode that is INARGUABLY more important, and then write this? Plausible/Unlikely

How do you find this theory?
