Lisbon too?
I just got an interesting thought, considering haffner's advice to lisbon in the last episode... "Jane pissed off plenty of powerful people, not only RJ"
and my opinion is...we got it backwards this whole time, RJ is not "many", he is just one person, with plenty of powerful friends (one of seven-headed red dragon)
in other words, RJ is just a part from "the great red dragon" thing and there are plenty of people just like him (could be a plot after RJ/season 7)
After capturing /killing RJ, Jane would realize he's just a tip of the iceberg...what do you guys think?
Something to think about. PJ never confirmed that RJ was right about the 7 suspects. The 7 suspects are who RJ assumes PJ would end up with. PJ has always manipulated the team to do as he wants. PJ has another list of suspects nobody knows about.
The only past RJ and PJ have is PJ went on live tv and insulted RJ. That is why his family was killed. PJ made it a personal vendetta to get his revenge and RJ has accepted the challenge. Your typical cat and mouse game.
Check out my earlier theory and tell me what you think.
1st and foremost, how is Virgil not RJ? It all made since til the list came out.
Think about this. Am I the only one that noticed Kirkland and PJ rubbing their fingers the same way when they were in the barn? Could PJ have hypnotized Kirkland at some point which resulted in Kirkland sharing all that info about his brother? (Key info in my opinion)
Tiger tiger organization(TTO) is a group of law enforcement officials, judges, and politicians who do shady things and make a lot of money being above the law. They have a business relationship with Visualize. 2 organizations getting rich no matter who they have to kill. RJ is not working with either group. RJ is a serial killer. Serial killers work alone.
RJ does have a past with Visualize though. Michael Kirkland had a rough childhood. Abused by his father and abandoned by his brother (Robert), Michael found a home with Visualize. He worked on the farms and for whatever reasons turned to murder. His 1st victims left under the barn on the Visualize farm. I'm guessing the smiley face represents the happiness he has for the pain of others. I think Bret Stiles has a good idea who RJ is but cant seem to find him. I think Visualize and TTO want RJ dead before PJ can get to him because of everything RJ knows. If RJ talks, he could bring down both organizations.
Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong!
I'll second and piggyback some of the previous Minelli posters, who make good points.
Go back and watch the early episodes, they're a better indicator of the true essence of the show.
Opening title sequence - Mentalist - def. - A master manipulator of thoughts and behavior.
Jane is not going to get Red John by suspects being eliminated one by one. It shouldn't be the butler with the candlesticks in the pantry. That would be very disappointing to me.
He is not behind Red John, he is one step ahead. This is high level chess, not a Milton Bradley board game.
Much more satisfying for the audience and truer to the character of Jane is a gambit - def. - a chess opening in which a player risks one or more pawns to gain an advantage in position.
The carney performer with the brilliant mind is performing master manipulation. Don't pay attention to the misdirection or the sleight of hand. Who's whistling or who's afraid of birds will not lead to the endgame. Red John made a mistake, and Jane will press the advantage, perhaps the audience isn't even privy to that information.
I wouldn't hold it against Heller if he's not being completely forthright with the list of suspects. Deceit is a part of manipulation. It has reengaged the audience, and let them know there will be a Red John payoff.
Minelli is a good suspect as others have pointed out. I would only say the last episode of season 1 casts a lot of suspicion on him. He's the one who pointed out Tagliaferro translates to "cut iron" which led them to Sheriif Hardy's farmhouse, which Red John was trying to lure Jane to.
Could Minelli have been Red John in the farmhouse room calmly sipping tea taking in the whole scene? Very possible. His age fits with being a friend of Hardy's father.
From Heller's perspective, it's possible The Mentalist was not going to be greenlighted for season two. He could've completed the story arc after 23 episodes by having Jane confront Minelli at the farmhouse. Remember Jane was onto Hardy, and was willing to sacrifice his own life to draw out Red John.
How is it that Red John has so many followers and disciples who do his bidding and are willing to die for him? It can't be all because of his devilish charm and powers of persuasion. He has extreme leverage on them some how. If wicked, Minelli as the head of CBI would have that leverage. The law enforcement connections, who gets promoted, who gets a job. If discovered, the power to send depraved criminals like Timothy Carter to jail for life - or as a reprieve from Red John, a second chance at redemption. Seems like we've heard many of Red John's followers paraphrase words like that.
That's my two cents, really enjoy the website and people's different theories. Some stuff I never would've thought of - Ellis Mars - playing a bumbling psychic in plain sight - "He is Mar" Spanish translation - "El es Mar" - went right over my head. I'm going with my first instinct though and sticking with Minelli.
Do what you have to do Patrick, rooting for you mate
The theory below by "ACEDAZZLER777" was actually by me and my name was "WhyTellLisbon?"
I don't know how the website put the wrong name
I just posted a theory like an hour ago, but I had to add to it:
Not only did Patrick not have to tell his list to Lisbon...He didn't even have to show her the video!!
To me, EVERYTHING about the list of 7 suspects is fishy, and I'll break it down:
1. Why tell Lisbon and the team?? (He knew the team would find out if he told Lisbon)
The only place the list is safe is in his head...Telling other people can only complicate things....having that information in his room is VERY dangerous, especially since people have broken in before...
I go into further detail in my first post, just scroll down a few theories...
2. Why destroy the DVD?
If the video was really from Red John, don't you think that Patrick would try to get ANY and ALL information he could from it? Wouldn't he want someone to analyze the disc and try to find some info? I understand that he may believe that Red John has covered all of his bases, but still, he doesn't even TRY to get any clues from it?
3. The only way Red John could get Patrick's REAL list of suspects is if Patrick wants him to...Red John is NOT psychic, and Jane never told anybody who his suspects were...We still don't know how RJ knew the names, so I'm thinking it was just a part of Patrick's big plan.
4. Lorelei going to kill RJ by herself? She of ALL people should know how that was gonna turn out!
Why wouldn't she tell Patrick who Red John is? Or at least leave him a clue for if she died? Something was just not right about how that all went down.
5. Would make for a better ending if the list was fake (This is just my opinion)
When it's all said and done, I don't care tooo much about who Red John is...I care more about Patrick looking like a COMPLETE GENIUS in finding it out! I want Jane's plot to catch Red John to be EPIC...I hope that he has been planning something for a lot longer than we know, and I hope that the Lorelei video and the list of 7 is all a part of it!
I think that if the list is real, we kind of lose some of that "Patrick Jane Amazing-ness." Like Red John said: "That's NOT clever!" because all he did was narrow down a big list of people by his good memory...
