THE THEORIES

Lets see why the others can't be RJ

Brett Partridge = Leave the poor guy alone. He is dead! and even if he is alive even I could kick his teeth out. Look at him he doesn't even lift. Even in the first episode he was fascinated by the fake RJ. The real RJ would be disgusted by some random faker. Same voice? RJ ain't stupod. He change his voice lol to something gayish, Brett just happens to have a similiar kind of gay voice.

Bob = He got shot like 6 times in the back front of us lol. he is dead! He tortured random guys on Janes list to find out who RJ is.
Crazy twin plot? No way. Too late for that. This is ain't Lost lol

Gale = 100% no way lol. just look at him. Besides Jane is not going to announce on TV who is RJ. Jane wants RJ for himself. Jane will go up to RJ and shoot him and smile when RJ begs for mercy.

Bret Stiles = Way too old lol. Even a kid could brake his bones easy. He ain't RJ. Is he dead? Mayhaps.

Smith = lol he is way too fat to be RJ. He is like twice the size of RJ lol I can't believe that he is on the list.

Ray Haffner = He is a noob. Too stupid to be RJ.  no offense.
is he Dead? Mayhaps.

That leaves us with Thomas McAllister. He can fake his death easy. No body found. He has the same vainy hand as RJ in the promo s06e07. He could put up a fight easy. He would knock you out fair and square. He is smart. Fits the age as well.

Maybe a Randomer who is not on the list? No way. This ain't Lost.

Well, I gotta say, I'm REALLY happy that Reede Smith is not RJ. I actually started to like the character after the fact being revealed. Anyways:

I got 4 options: McAllister, Bertram, Partridge and Haffner.

First let's start with Partridge. I think he's dead. Of course it's possible for him to fake his death with the help of the Blake clan. Very unlikely but Partridge would be sure to not disappoint.

Next let's take Bertram down. At this point he's too obvious. There wouldn't be any twist if it was him. Sure he's a killer but not an RJ killer. But his the most recognizable character on the show after the CBI team so everybody would know who he is.

Now to Haffner. This guy is my second option just because he was my number 1 suspect. Part of Visualize, crush on Lisbon etc. all would make him a good Red John... But I think he was an innocent man killed in the bombing.

And now, sheriff Thomas McAllister. As the list was first shown everybody thought he was a bad option, me included. Until his second appearance. He was so friendly to Patrick, clearly wanted his friendship. Here's more reasons:
- He is played by Xander Berkeley, a talented actor who'd make a great performance.
- He could have faked the death easily, put the bomb in his hat and put a body in there with his blood or something then run away.
- 'He is Mar' He Is Mac Allister? He Is Marshal?
- Fits Rosalind's description the best out of all (except for Partridge and Kirkland who's dead)
- Appeared in the first season, the first episode to be titled with 'red'.
- He's like Waldo. Appearance in one episode and nobody suspects a thing even when put on the list.
- Has a fear of birds or just pidgeons. RJ has a fobia too of some sorts.
- Good shooter and so is Red John. They also wear same kind of boots (S2 finale).

I hope I'm right but I'll be satisfied with any of the four. Thanks for taking your time reading this!

I've always had McAllister as my #1 of the list of 7 and that has not changed as of last night.

2 observations - #1 it was beyond obvious that Van Pelt was uncomfortable and maybe even nervous about the FBI searching the CBI office. B.c she has something to hide?
#2 was it common knowledge to members of the team that the tattoos were on left shoulders? B.c when Lisbon told Van Pelt to tell Rigsby to check his shoulder she didn't specify which one but Van Pelt specifically said to check the left shoulder.

Also, when McAllister "hit on" Van Pelt, was it really him hitting on her? Or do they already know each other?

why everyone thinks McAllister is red john?! showing up in the promo does not mean he is red john. I think that the real red john will appear when Patrick kills McAllister in the church, and this is where the real red john say "the game is over and I won."

OMG, this website was down the whole day!!!! I was desperate to read other's opinions and I couldn't! :P

It looks like it's the sheriff, but it's very suspicious that they let us see him in the promo...

A few things here. Firstly:

So has anyone tried to crack the code that was found in Bertram's storage locker? (BTW, I doubt that it's McAllister's storage unit - nobody calls anyone "Mr first name". There's no reason for her to do that, and Bertram would obviously use a false name for his storage unit, considering he appears to be the head of The Blake Association - Blake did the illustrations for THOMAS Gray's poems)

So back to the code - I started trying to decipher it. I found some interesting things that others might find helpful. I just don't have the time to continue with it now.

Looking at the promos for next week's episode:

Freeze-frame and there is a single person in all the important shots - wearing the same clothing in all, which is how I got there. The person breaking through the glass looks like McAllister (trousers + black jacket) or a stunt double that looks identical to him. The man walking in to the church to meet Jane looks like McAllister (trousers + black jacket). The guy Jane is chasing in the graveyard looks like McAllister (trousers + black jacket).

So either none of those shots are of Red John and McAllister is alive and Jane is after him for some other reason, or Red John is Sheriff McAllister...

I think after last night's episode we can fairly nicely discount several of the list of 7 as has been pointed out by many of you already.

Namely:
1) Reede Smith: This is the gimme, its not him
2) Haffner and Stiles: I'll get to McAllister further down

So who is left:
1) McAllister
2) Partridge: I really don't think its him, lots of great Partridge theories, but I just can't see how they miss him staging his death again
3) Bertram: Doesn't seem right for him to be Red John, especially given Red John set off the bomb. Post explosion he is off balance and on the run. Doesn't make much sense for him to have set off that bomb.

Now, to why I believe its McAllister (though admittedly I think as we've all pointed out, nobody really knows):
- It all comes down to the explosion scene, first you have to ask the question of why set off that explosion, if its to kill Jane then its inelegant and not like Red John. However if it was done to make himself disappear then it the move of a true showman. In essence it says that Red John is willing to walk into a meeting with Jane where he knows that Jane holds the upper hand and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. I like to think that this is what Red John is doing in this scenario.
- If we take this approach to the bombing scenario the next question we might have then is why I assume that McAllister and not Haffner/Stiles are Red John. I rewatched the final scene of 6.6 very closely. Let's make one assumption here, Red John carries the bomb in on his person, its a small, high grade device that is easily concealed. I think McAllister leaves the bomb under his hat once he gets up to be a part of the line-up. Now if you watch carefully, McAllister crosses to the point furthest away from his hat, but also right next to an open door. Now, if Jane is between McAllister and the bomb/Haffner/Stiles, how does McAllister's corpse end up being charred beyond recognition. It just doesn't make sense. If anything he should have been shielded most from the blast. Now I do realize that we still don't know the significant of the gunshot and what happened in the interim, so this does leave room for more happening than we have been privy to seeing.
- Now lastly, if McAllister is really alive then where did a charred body come from and the DNA. I think this is where one has to stretch the farthest, though I would argue not nearly as far as the BP theories. PJ and RJ are chess masters who anticipate each others moves in advance. RJ knows that this meeting that Jane is setting up with the suspects is his big reveal, hence why he constructs the bomb to make himself disappear. RJ also knows PJ psyche, he knows that the place to reveal his wife and daughter's killer will be at the scene of the crime. It makes sense for the grieving widower out for revenge to take his suspects back to the place where it all happened. We know that with his power in law enforcement and his ability to manipulate/hack that changing the sample DNA in the database would not be difficult. Neither potentially would be obtaining a body from a morgue and stashing it in advance behind/under the couch where he would be sitting. Admittedly, that is where the biggest stretch comes in to play, but I do think that its doable.

We won't truly know until next week, but I'm glad we are all enjoying the process of the final reveal.
