THE THEORIES

It's Lisbon.  The person who recited "Tyger Tyger" to Jane at the end of season 2, when he was tied to the chair, was a woman.  I base this on the walk and the way she put her hand on his shoulder.  The only person that Jane told he was going to the building was Lisbon.  In the scene immediately before Todd Johnson is set on fire in the room at CBI headquarters, a person is standing looking in at him, and that person looks like Lisbon.  At the end of season one, the deputy starts to name Lisbon right before he tries to kill her.  Then there is the cast on Lisbon's arm, the fact that she was visibly jealous of Kristina Frye and Lorelei.  It is Lisbon, right under Patrick's nose.

I love Lisbon, don't get me wrong, I adore her and I've always wanted her to be with Jane. I've never questioned her loyalty up until the episode where she finds Patridge. I found it odd that Red John kept her alive, why would he keep her alive when he hasn't shown mercy to Jane in the past.

I though about Jane being RJ but he got the call about Lisbon so he wasn't there. I don't think she is RJ but I do think she might be involved with him somehow. Why would he spare her?

If McAllister is now the top suspect for being startled by a pigeon that flew up in his face out of nowhere in a dark room, well, so is Lisbon.

McAllister and Lisbon should then be equally weighed as suspects, if you subscribe to pigeon theory.

I hate it when people accuse Teresa or Jane of being Red John -- I'm not about to do that here. But there was something peculiar about Lisbon in the final episode of season 5 that caught my attention and kept it.

Question: Why does Lisbon have a cast on her arm in Red John's Rules? Oddly, she does not have it in Desert Rose, which picks up immediately where the previous episode, mentioned above, left off.

Theory: Robin Tunney broke her arm. The director said, "Let's go with it, but when Patrick asks you what happened say 'I just slipped and fell' in an awkward high-piched voice and do that shifty-eye-thing Lisbon does, as if she's trying to hide something, so that the viewers will question it."

Any better ideas?

There are
many good observations about why Lisbon
is RJ. Many are relevant I’m sure, many are not, and many are surely placed in
the script to confuse and mean nothing.

I’m just
going to focus on the last two episodes (1 and 2 of season 6) and point out why
I think that Jane is almost sure Lisbon IS Red John.

His actions
on these two episodes are all a result of his certainty that Lisbon is Red John:
1) It’s
very unlike that RJ really got Jane’s list right! That would be like guessing 7
persons out of a list of over thousand! But Jane acts like he freaked out by
the fact, says that is a trick by RJ but doesn’t tell Lisbon what he means. From now on Jane will
be telling Lisbon
he is in control, but acts like he is not!
2) The
Case of episode 1: OK, Jane knew the guy buried the ring in the garden. So why
arm him instead of just getting the team to search the garden? He wants to mesh
up. Of course getting the cop shut was not part of his plan, but there is
Bertram sending them away, together and alone!
3) While
on the case, Jane gets both of him and Lisbon
at a dinner, doing nothing else but chatting with the locals it seams! Lisbon starts to loose patience.
She is Red John and said he starts killing again and often, but there she is
locked up in the middle of nowhere. Also they go off to the football guy case
right after she found out she actually guessed the list right. She needs time
alone to get her plans going, but there she is with Jane in the middle of nowhere!
4) After
Jane gets mad at Lisbon for telling about the
list to the team, Lisbon
leaves them in anger. Jane tells  her she
will get trapped by RJ but she says she is not that naïve! A couple of hours
later she enters an abandoned  house with
no backup to save one of the 7 suspects, from whom, probably from RJ, the most dangerous
man in California! OK she knows RJ would not be in there because she is RJ. But
her accomplice Partritge is in there in distress and she doesn’t know why. She
has to find out. If she is not RJ, well she’s acting rather naïve.
5) So
if not RJ, then who is responsible for what happened at the abandoned house and
why to do this? It is Kirkland
for sure! He kills RJ’s accomplice and mocks RJ by copying him. It’s the one
thing RJ hates most! Kirkland
is after RJ for personal reasons, but doesn’t know who RJ is. He’s trying to
make RJ come out and play. I don’t think that Jane has ever told Lisbon that probably Kirkland
killed the man in the hospital who knew who RJ is. Why? Because Jane knows that
Kirkland is
probably the young and only survivor from the basement of the red barn, and he is
after RJ, to just kill him! So you don’t reveal Kirkland’s identity to RJ!
6)
So
Jane’s actions in episode 1 are about trying to not letting Lisbon space to move, because she promised to
start killing again.
7) Episode
2! RJ having nightmares with many RJs killing her team! No it’s rather RJ
having nightmares with many copycats killing her team. Simple.
8) While
in bed in hospital RJ makes Jane seek out his doctor, a happy memory!
9)  Ok
the meeting in Bertram’s office! When list was announced I’m sure most of us
said McAllister who, or Smith who? The only reason the two of them are in the
list is to misdirect. These three are up to something that has nothing to do
with the case. RJ knew that and the fact they have to meet and so put
McAllister and Smith in the list. Ooh… conspiracy. Well not quite.
10)
So
does Haffner make Lisbon
nervous? Of course! Someone is out to get RJ and RJ doesn’t know who or what
for! RJ not being in control and knowing what is going on? Yes that makes him
nervous. His hunter could be anyone.
11)
Lastly,
Lisbon or
Partridge is afraid of heights. Although I don’t know why would Sophie call Lisbon a he. Anyway, in
heights like rooftops you often find pigeons, and this is the clue from the
last sequence of episode one.
So why isn’t
Jane taking any real action against Lisbon.
We know for sure that he would kill Red John on sight. But past events make him
want to be 100% sure before killing him, and at this point he can’t be 100% that
it is Lisbon. Also
he can’t ask anyone for help in finding out. She is the most loved one by all!
