THE THEORIES

My guess? CBI Ron. Why?

In the last episode (season 5 ep 7) in the end the Bob guy says to Patrick Jane something like, you dont know me but i know you!, then when they go away, right before the episode ends, who is on focus? yeah... CBI Ron.

CBI Ron is always appearing. Always near Patrick..

And please check episode season 1 episode 16.. When Grace Van Pelt's new boyfriend is chasing van pelt and patrick jane in the parking lot with a gun, theres someone that runs away in his car. Who is it? CBI Ron!

A CBI Agent that watches some criminal with a gun trying to kill two CBI workers, and simply goes away without doing anything? That's really suspiscious for me.. I mean, he could not be Red John, but in some way he must be an accomplice or something like that. He is not a good person.. And we never heard his voice I guess..

Because why would the director of the series put a secundary actor like CBI Ron so many times during the 5 seasons?

Rate my theory guys :D

CBI Ron - Season 1, Episode 16. 39 minutes and 47 seconds into it, the bomber is looking for Van Pelt and temporarily blinded Jane to kill Jane. They are in the parking lot at this moment and the bomber has his gun drawn. The lighting is very good and CBI ron pulls up right beside him with his window down so he can clearly see, and looks right at the bombers drawn gun in the CBI parking lot. To any other CBI they would immediately draw their weapon or if they didn't have one, go and get one. Instead CBI Ron looks right at it, and at the bomber, and drives away appearing scared. So, obviously, in some way CBI Ron is a bad apple. He's a recurrent "extra" and has a bunch of clues pointing to him being an accomplice or red john himself although that's less likely.

Anyone could be Red John besides a few obvious people like Jane or Lisbon, the rest of the team, etc because they are on the other side of the world when red john kills someone for instance in several episodes (one he kills a hooker and a pardoned fugitive in Mexico while the entire team is back at headquaters, only Minelli is away at this time, yet I don't suspect Minelli just for this one small instance, because I haven't seen enough episodes with him in it. He does fit the bill though because of his age, and love of politics since he's in a political job. Which would explain why Red John is always watching the media. But for now, I know that CBI Ron has about a 85% chance of being a bad apple, and probably linked to Red John in some way.

I think cbi RON  is  red  john   because  :-
(1) Ron is very similar to  red john.Like R ed -jh ON.

(2) He's always there  ..behind every one   doesn't speak. As bruno heller said we've already  seen red john  many times .

(3)Red john knows everything  that happens in the cbi office. so maybe he works in the cbi office . And RJ has many times contacted jane in the cbi office  but  still he untraceable . AND  nobody can hack into cbi servers from outside.

(4) look carefully (4x13) when  RED john  meets rosalind harker.  he's sitting  like jane  and the  way  he's holding the tea cup ...just look at his hand he's wearing  a  RING  , it's blurry  but ron is also wearing same kind of ring.

my partner has suspicions that red jon is Ron (Red Jon - R-ON) for the simple fact he's in most episodes always in the back ground and yet never involved, never speaks but seems to be close to everything in HQ. i personally have my eye on Jane, i share all the ideas as the others here do and yet i have a curious mini theory im putting out there so ponder on this...  Why the smiley face? why the slanted out eyes and smile? get a pic of patrick and the smiley together and really look... very similar so ask the question why the red jon symbol is a slanted eyed smiley???

Here is My husbands theory, those of you who are die hard mentalist fans like my husband and I are, may have noticed that in almost every episode there is a glimpse of an extra named CBI Ron. He has several speaking parts, one liners and what not. Here is our question, Why would a show have a reoccurring extra through out all 4 seasons of The Mentalist. His presence is over powering and once you notice him you will always see glimpses. He is always around when the team is working, and knows the ins and outs of the CBI. The writers want you to suspect all of the obvious people, and maybe they do have a roll to play with Red John. But they are there to keep you eyes away from the real Red John, this CBI Ron! Just you wait and see!
