Wonder if the person who posted this spoiler http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/13389 under Throey 13389 saw a different leaked episode. Because there are too many differences in his very detailed "spoiler" to have been from this episode, especially his/her allusions to Visualize and Roy Tagliaferro.
Makes me think the temporarily available "leaked" episode is a big prank by the CBS.

So your telling me Cordero pats down Jane for a gun but doesn't notice the pidgeon in his pocket?

Don't get me wrong ________ fitted as RJ but that ending held not weight whatsoever. And for RJ to regret his decision and try to call the police, maybe we have put him on a pedestal as suchbut that doesn't seem like RJ behaviour to me.

Ok, if I HAD to chose one of the two left, I would say it's Reede Smith.

We saw a side to him we hadn't really seen before. He handed himself in. Now some might say "so he can't be red john", he could. RJ is a very smart person, right now he is panicking more than he has probably ever had to before. He is manipulating, he could probably manipulate PJ if he really wanted to.

PJ was making a point of saying he could tell when people were lying by being face to face with them, this is true, but RJ is not your average person, he know exactly how to use the skills he has, he is being backed in to a corner and what better way to hide yourself than being right in front of them.

I think they want us to now think it's Bertram, which is why I don't think it is. The last episode really turned things around for me because I did originally think it was Bertram for reasons I have explained before.

Now, if it's not one of the two, then it could really be any of them. Partridge is dead, people need to realise that, he's said himself in interviews, he is most certainly dead. People are hanging on to him being RJ and he was a good candidate but let it go people!

I would say either the Sherriff or Kirkland.

So to sum it up, it could be any of them really lol.

In the next episode RJ is heard saying "I won". In that sense, who seems to have PJ beaten? Reede Smith, whom when PJ looked in the eyes; he could not identify as RJ.
Bertram wants Reede dead because RJ is not the leader of tyger tyger but only a nuisance at this time.

It's soooo obvious :D Nevertheless I was really really proud of myself when I figured it out!

Now let's have a look at RJ aliases or real names or whatever they are:

DR. Joe N. H. --> Anagramm of Red John --> Has got something to do with Red John which lead me to the idea that perhaps the names of the suspects could be a hint. Now look at what I found:

Roy Tagliaferro: Roy --> Comes from Kings and is once again a hint to RJ's arrogance

The interesting part however is Tagliaferro which comes out of the Italian and means something like "bend/cut iron"
Now let's take a look at SMITH! What does a Smith do? Exactly! He works with/ bends/ cuts iron!!

Obviously those are all aliases however it is so clear that Reede Smith is Red John --> Additionally to the whole Tagliaferro/Smith thingy there's also his surname which is Reede which comes from old English/Scottish and means *surprise-surprise* "red, or 'the reddish one'".

Sorry for the Spoilers but I just had to write somewhere that I'm the first Person I know of (in the Internet) to Figur this out :D

Am posting this idea two different ways to allow for different possible votes on suspects.

Theory for voting option 1

Have read many times on this site that Heller has been quoted as saying 1) The viewers are going to be disappointed when they learn who the real Red John is 2) Red John is like Waldo hiding in the background and 3) The real Red John appeared in the Mall Scene in Strawberries and Cream Part 2.  With all that in mind, as a viewer from the day The Mentalist aired, I would be most disappointed if Reede Smith turned out to be Red John.  When he was listed as one of the 7 had to refresh my memory as to whom this guy was since he was more in the background than the other suspects.  I have rewatched the Strawberries and Cream mall scene several times and unfortunately the only person I have seen who resembles one of the 7 is someone who looks like he could be Reede Smith :( 
If you have the video, rewatch the conversation between Jane and Bertram when Jane says he believes Red John "has friends all over the state. Powerful friends; I'm serious."  As Bertram shifts around in his chair, a man, very similar in size, shape and looks to Reede Smith, dressed in a reddish shirt, khaki jacket and jeans walks in the background behind Bertram and then behind Jane.  He appears to be carrying a cup of coffee.  Have looked and looked for someone else that resembles the list of 7 but that is all I have been able to find.  

If you think man in background at the mall is Reede Smith thus making him Red John, please click on green for plausible.
