There is a major tie in with O'laughlin, Van Pelt, Haffner and Red John.  There is more to the story with O'laughlin and Van Pelt than was told to us.  Haffner is very suspicious.  He has the look of a guy who would like to hack women up with a sharp  blade.

I am shure that this theory will be attacked right away! If so it is just the proof that the moderators of this webpage are the people that are payed from Bruno Heller and the show to monitor the risponse and the interest in the show so they could know wether the show is loosing audience and if they should reveal who Red John is sooner than they maybe thaught. Anyway look closer at all the episodes involving Ray Haffner and the whole story. You will se that he is very simply Red John and if you watch the whole thing to the end you wont be surprised ;-)

Watch closely the final of season 2. You can clearly distinguish the body shape of Red John : It is a TALL and THIN person.
For me it can only be Brett Partridge or Ray Haffner. 
But then Brett is too young to be RJ ( murder in the farm 1980) So there is only one left :

RAY HAFFNER IS RED JOHN !!!!

Not a theory, only a doubt. How could RJ get to the same 7 suspects in only few hours, while Jane took some weeks to do the same?

Obviously RJ didn´t find out by the information Kirkland got because he had already recorded the cd. And Jane wouldn´t be so stupied to let the correct information into the CBI.

So, I can presume that the false information here is that Jane shook RJ´s hand before. This way, RJ could have enought time to think very well about those 7 options before Lorelai planted this false clue.

Maybe RJ really is some of those 7 suspects, but he wanted Jane to get to those names. I just don´t know why.

I mean -wouldn´t it be more plausible that anyone who is attacked so badly and feels his end is near write only the Name of the killer like Miranda did with "Roy". Why trying to use" he is..."
Could be written by the killer to confuse.....and therefore mean nothing at all?!?

RJ is wearing boots in the Episode where PJ is bound to the chair- this means he could gain or loose at least 2 cm-to all who are finding out which height the actors have- so I don´t find that useful.
About the Age: Bret Stiles should be too old-why? He is very agile and seems of biological younger Age.
Besides I don´t think that he and PJ are friends- he killed before but wasn´t touched for this for so Long( did anyone remember the Scene with Hightower-"dont push your luck".
PJ was disgussed by him .
RJ is telling PJ in the car "  imagine what life we could lead"-he is hoping for a augmention of his Situation which means that he hasn´t reached the most powerful Position (hierachy down to Stiles)

I just watched the first Haffner episode again.  I found that their were several elements that made me want to accuse him, but just as many to disregard him.  I found it interesting that he was introduced right after Jane kills Timothy Carter.  He could have requested this assignment with the intention of observing Jane.  This would give him one on one time to see if Jane was convinced he had killed Red John.  Haffner shakes Jane's hand upon introduction.  Haffner doesn't really get into conflicts with Jane, he seems to just observe and take in the chaos that Jane can erupt.  I think Haffner also has the majority of the team (cho, Rigsby, Van Pelt) under him not only because of lack of option, but to see if he can turn any of them to his side.  Haffner has the look and charm that it would take to be Red John.  Theoretically.  if Haffner is working with Bertrum, I think they may have spoken about Jane and came to the conclusion that he knows Red John is not dead and his team is solid.  That is why he was dismissed so quickly.  This is probably a coincidence, but I also found it interesting that Lisbon's arm was injured in the Haffner episode as well as the finale.  Later we also find out that Haffner has ties to Visualize and may have been on the farm.  Haffner also has access to a significant amount of wealth (visualize) and is able to start up a private security firm, which could be a front for the Red John organization.

The major downside to Haffner is his lack of flair.  He is not a show man.

I think 6 people of the 7 suspects actually work for Red John and the 7th person (Ray Haffner) is Red John. Red John knew that PJ would narrow the list down to those ones who might look like Red John at some point and all the people who worked for Red John had that potential. These 6 people are the only ones who work for Red John and shook hands with PJ.
