There are no Red John as an individual person. Patrick Jane
is Red John. he got multiple personalities and when he is in Red John personality
he doesn’t recall what he does, yet he can access Patrick's memories. At the
end when Patrick realized he is a Red John he will kill himself, as this would
be the only way to stop Red John. This would be the ending....

Patrick Jane knows who Redjohn is
I will tell you how he knows, but by itself, this is pretty insubstantial. Partridge is irked by flies in the desert. Patrick reads this. Bruno Heller said RJ likes the cold for a reason, duh. Later, Patrick remembers what Bosco told him about Redjohn + puts 2 and 2 together. Partridge knows Rebecca failed to kill Bosco, so pre-empts Patrick knows his identity. Hence Redjohn disposes of the alias "Brett Partridge" + lures Lisbon. Faking death is easy. He knows people. How does he have so much money? Well his father is Bret Stiles. Sorry... going off track.
By the end of episode 1, Patrick already knows that Redjohn is Brett Partridge. I will start using very weak pieces of evidence, and grow to use better evidence.
0. Expression on Partridge's face in the desert at the end of the scene
1. Patrick does not even bother to look at Partridge's body
2. Patrick calls Lisbon 4 times near end of episode 1. Ignored every time. He is still happy in the car. He knows who RJ is and think's he's won.
3. As soon as he gets to Lisbon he takes Partridge's blood off her face. For evidence later.
4. Once Partridge is found out, he, Redjohn leads Patrick to Sophie Miller. "Carmen Lee" is a trigger. It's someone Patrick remembers from the mental institution. The recorder is a clue too late: RJ's fear: Acaraphobia; A fear of insects/bugs. (Partridge irked by flies)
5. Patrick intentionally misleads Lisbon saying its acrophobia. He lies saying he remembered Sophie Miller from "hospitals/doctors". He doesn't want her hurt. RJ already sent the message noone else should be involved by painting Lisbon's smiley.
6. Patrick sees Redjohn. The woman feeding pigeons. It's a taunt. Patrick won't do anything, RJ has men placed to kill Lisbon if he tried. He stares at the pigeons for ages. Then when Lisbon is going to leave he says Sophie Miller might have left some notes. This is obviously Patrick showing RJ that he is distracting Lisbon. We know that Patrick knows Sophie vocally transcribes notes. He already has the recorder itself!

I think it is Patrick Jane.
He is very clever, fits the build and is never around when RJ things go down. I think he has a split personality.

Thoughts?
I honestly think Patrick Jane could be Red john, after all, he knew one of his happiest thoughts, the suspects before jane talked about the, etc. After all, we've never seen Red John's face, and if we did how would we know this was Red John. Like the person Timothy at the mall, and a bunch of other people.
I think that Patrick Jane is Red John.
Two things lead my theory:
- Only Patrick Jane can think like Patrick Jane. I mean the list of seven suspects, his secrets like his childhood memories. Moreover, they both know the psychiatrist (S04E02).
- Red John is afraid of altitude and, as we can see in the last episode (S04E03), Patrick Jane was scared on the church roof.
It is obvious, Patrick Jane is Red John... =(
What if someone (Maybe Danny) has been hypnotized and is hypnotizing Patrick Jane to be "the face" of Red John?
So the real Red John is Danny, but everybody that works with Red John thinks he is Patrick Jane.
This would explain a lot of things..
I believe Patrick Jane is Red John.
If we put aside the obvious and blatant connection between the names "Jane" and "John" we should consider the conversation between Jane and Tommy in the episode "Red Flame" about "Moby Dick": Tommy states that the whale died at the end. Moby Dick killed Ahab, but survived. That story, like the Mentalist tells of an endless hunt that ultimately destroy's captain Ahab. Keeping PJ's promise that when he finds RJ he will kill him (and thus revealing the anger in him) tells of an upcoming showdown which the "psychic" RJ should be able to prevent just by killing Patrick in the same way narrowed the suspect list despite that "nobody" knew of the said list.
Another evidence of this connection is the fact that Red left agent Lisbon alive when he so easily could've killed the person that matters the most to Jane just as he did in the pilot.
