Patrick Jane is Red John
The poem's tyger says who create the evil create the good so I belive the Red John is your "alter ego"
(other personality).

Interesting clues in previous episode

1)   Hightowers aunt calls Jane a lamb. Interesting use of word here. Its in the poem, tiger tiger, it could also be seen as the prey of tiger. It clearly being used as a reference for something.

2)   Jane has Tyger Tyger said to him by a) Red John in end of season episode. Who clearly isn't red john and is just someone protecting him.  b) Todd when he dies, If it is a code word which it is, why say it to Patrick Jane....... he would have to be involved to surely say the code word to..

3)   PJ has been investigated for 9 years under the suspicion of being RJ. Yet when Kirkland had a chance to interrogate him. He didn't even ask him ;Are you red john? Also the topic was pretty much brushed off, by Hightower, as if we know its not you. Why investigate for NINE years??? If they thought it wasn't him surely they would stop? Or have they just not caught him yet.

As I have said previously the teasers have always been put in place. More reasons and facts from the show could be listed for PJ being RJ then any other character. I would much rather in the red john episode when all suspects are gathered, they turn the tables from the usual format and reveal PJ as RJ. PJ then spends the rest of the season fighting the good and bad within him, whilst being chased by none corrupt officials resulting in the breaking up of the network.. Rather than a random reveal. Of someone who is quite unbelievable in the role.

95% of the people reading this wont agree but the reality is most people will be disappointed at first whoever or whatever RJ turns out to be.

I liked Kirkland's character in last episode. Dark. Could have played this for a bit longer in previous season, then had the swerve that he was also hunting RJ

Ok, I waver back on forth on this theory, as it's a bit out there... I still believe RJ is Patrick Jane even though Heller says he is not....why you ask?

What if...Patrick Jane doesn't or no longer exists...
What if...he was killed and Red John took his identity

That would mean that PJ is not Red John as Heller says, but reverse it...Red John is now PJ. This would explain why his wife and child also had to be killed. They would recognize the difference.

What better way to continue your crimes while not being caught. anyone remember Face Off the movie?

There are too many similarities and how RJ knows that list of 7 names is just too ironic.

What if the list are those he wants to get rid of and this is his way of skillfully doing so.

To my last point, in a French interview Heller mentioned that once RJ was revealed, the series must conclude and there could be no spin offs. That only implies the major character PJ must be outed. The intrigue lost. IMO that's because they are NOW the same being. A symmetry reminder by Tyger Tyger... Good and evil... PJ and RJ

Okay, so I know this is out there, but it's my gut!!

Jane has got a another personality and he other personality live in another body and he other personality is RedJohn 

Watch the last scene of the pilot episode  Patrick Jane laying under the Red John smiley face while the Red John theme music is playing  F@%#in Creepy  Has anyone else noticed everytime you hear Red John's voice it's really Patrick Jane's (just whispered and a little strained)   it can't be anyone on the show except Patrick Jane because we already suspect everyone on the show except the most obvious. . . Patrick Jane!!!  He's the only one even close to having Red John's skills      it's why Red John hasn't killed him   it's why Patrick can't catch Red John   there is more proof that Red John and Patrick Jane are the same person than anyone else      this whole list of 7 is another Timothy Carter    Reede, Bertram, and McAllister(and everyone else on the show in law enforcement) are part of this secret tyger tyger cop cult doing Red John's dirty work and survailance  Red John is heavily involved with Visulize and Bret Stiles  who is using thier power and influence through cop cult to aide and cover up Red John's crimes    why and how was Patrick Jane allowed onto the CBI in the first place?    Through Visulize he is using the cop cult to keep an eye on him when he is Patrick Jane       it will b a letdown if it is a random or obscure character  there will be no significance                                    

Watch any episode where P.J. looks over an edge, he's skiddish. When he is threatened with physical pain, he's a coward. Tiger Tiger poem is about burning tiger poachers' furs so they don't go on black market. (Destroy the thing you love most to save the ones that remain.) Think this correlates some how to P.J. killing own wife and kid.
Also P.J. has ties with Brett Styles. Who  could have been the person to hypnotize P.J. into becoming "patrick jane" (pink/light feminine) instead of 'red john' (red/dark masculine). And PJ would have needed someone with that skill to hypnotize him. Maybe that's why he went to a job field similar to a detective, so he could find his clues and piece them together? 
Bob kirkland reveals Homeland/fbi have been looking into PJ being red john for 8-9 yrs show is only 6th season. Why would they look into PJ prior to wife and child's murder. (Roughly 7-8 yrs ago in their timeline.) I also thought weird how in the episode RJ saved jane, and first said Tiger Tiger lines, it voice decoded as jane's. And now we see Tiger Tiger is a code word for some kind of occult. Maybe that was a member giving a message to another member. I think Jane planned things out prior to the murder. If it was a murder? (Hightower died and returned within 1 episode.)
He fits the description of red john, both physical, and now presence (His ex therapist's dictation recorder)
I don't think it can ALL be coincidence. But I'm probably wrong. Kudos to the writers!! 

So, Patrick Jane is Red John. He took on the persona in order to see who was tracking him down, what information they had, and disperse them from the side "red john" can't. Tiger Tiger- Destroy the things he's come to love "lisbon" in order to save the rest "wife and child" who aren't dead????!!

Patrick Jane is red john. I have watched every episode as I'm sure everyone else has, and I don't have definitive proof. However my angle is if I was writing this ending the only thing that doesn't account to a fade to black or it was just an island. Is that Jane is red john. I don't think the list is red john suspects it is red johns final hit list. He  will kill off the entire list wow when the last list member dies wow that will be a shocker. Where do we go from here. Lisbon will realize there is only one more possibility at that point. Haffner strong likely hood he is janes brother, and I am almost certain stiles is his father. Janes father has been mentioned the enitire series we must have some form of wrap up there. The latest episode proves jane has no regard with killing others as shown with the list and previous bad guys he had red john kill. Possibility that jane is red john and his father stiles was able to hynotize him or he split personalities after his wife was going to leave him into the red john alter ego. Plus CBS store shirt defines mentalist "Someone who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and or suggestion A master manipulator of thoughts and behavior" Let me make a definition for red john "Someone who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and or suggestion A master manipulator of thoughts and behavior"
