I had to choose a suspect, because each field is mandatory, but here is my theory:



Red John does not exist!!!!  It is the name of a powerful organization inside california law enforcement, members include bertram, mac allister, everybody with the red tattoo. 
All murders were committed by different members.

I accuse Bertram because description of Rosalind Harker and phcyho evaluation.
He camed in serie when Patrick started to come closer to the Red John.
He culd follow Patric whole time and he was the one who quouted Blakes poem.
He always asked wrong questions Patrick.
And at the end of seventh episode in sixth seasone he, reed and sheriff ware the only ones whit tattoos.
Reed Smith is just a deciple we know that for sure, sheriff climbed on the roof of the church so that kills the fear of heights clue. 
In moment when Patrick saw the tattoos, Bertram was only one who had look of guilt in he's eyes.

And just for everyone to know Bertram is my only suspec from the moment i saw him in The Mentalist.

So im gonna go with what I consider obvious.
Bertram, Smith and McAllister are part of this big organization that involves police, fbi and who knows who else, so im gonna go with the theory that Red John is not ONE person, but a bunch of people.
Think about it, just like "Hostel" bunch of crazy people who like to kill just for fun so they created this "club" so they can cover each other when they do it.

In the promo for episode 7 we hear Lisbon say we've got him. That means Bertram is the only one left

I possibly think it could be Gale bertram could be rj. he always acting suspious let me know what u guys think?

With hindsight I felt disappointed because Patrick Jane did not take into account that there could be more than one guy with the same tattoo.

But then I humbly realized nobody in this forum - including me - thought of that possibility either (at least as far as I could see).

So, let's see if we can do better this time, with predicting the possibilities about what happened in that room at the end of the previous episode... or will the writers surprise us again?

We can assume Jane is not dead, because if he was dead, likewise for the series.

I also assume it was Jane's shotgun that went off, because of something I read somewhere from one of the writers who said that 'that shotgun did go off'.  Also, it was a big noise and a huge flash, so it didn't look like a handgun to me.  

I assume that it was Jane who pulled the trigger, but I must also assume that Jane did not kill anyone or else he would be locked up for the remaining episodes and won't take further part in the investigation.  By the same reasoning he couldn't have planted the bomb, because I also assume the bomb in the room killed some people.

The question is why did he pull the trigger.  Did somebody try to take the gun away from him?  But who cried out "Wait...No!" just before the shot?

My prediction is it was either Haffner or Stiles who tried to pick up a gun while Jane was busy with the dot-guys, and possibly aimed it at Jane, and Jane swung round and said "wait..no!" and then had to pull the trigger, but probably aimed over their heads.  Why do I think this?  From the outside Haffner and Stiles would be sitting on the LEFT of the door, opposite to the wall where McAllister, Smith and Betram were being lined up.  And the LEFT window is the the window that lit up when the shot was fired.

I predict that at least two of the guys with the dots on their shoulders are still alive, because we still have to guess who Red John is for an episode or two.  This also means that whatever happened in the room just before the bomb blast did not identify Red John conclusively.

Jane and the CBI would make damn sure the dead guys are really dead - so hopefully, no more "whatsisname is still alive" theories when we know who they are :)  

McAllister, Bertram or Reede.  At most, one of them died.

I think Red John IS one of those three guys, and must have planted the bomb to make sure he had some kind of diversion when the meeting with Jane proved too hot for him too handle.

The only problem I have with that is how did RJ make sure he didn't get blown up too.

Another theory is that Michael Kirkland, Bob's twin brother, figured out where Red John would be and planted this bomb to kill him, not caring who else got hurt too.

And of course, many people would also say, RJ is not on the list, and he planted the bomb to take care of all his problems in one go.  This I don't want to believe...
