if you remember 4.16 "his thoughts were red thoughts", remember the dialog between Bret and Grace VP.. how did she fall in love with him..? was it love..? definitely yes.. So, age is not problem.. Bret is very impressive, strong, talented etc.. the other theories are quite weak when compared with Bret...
I'm choosing brett stiles and i'm sticking with him as being red john.
you might say but he is too old...or his voice doesn't match.,,
then explain to me why brett stiles is one of the 7 suspects

invented by rj..just like timothy carter...he only existed like for 5 or 9 nine

with different physical description thus making stiles and the sheriff

perfect disguies as most people wont think of him as red john.
4-his voice can be disguised with a voice changer or something
and get rid of the accent easyly as him being a showman

5.when he meets patrick in season 2 they dont shake hands but
they treatened each other..jane even says to his face
that he is a big fat liar.so they were not friends.
6.i never really understood the reason behind the whole hightower fiasco
until i saw red all over episode.stiles was really pissed at patrick
and especially hightower and even told her not to push her luck.
and we all know what rj does when he is pissed...he kills.
which explains why she was framed in the todd johnson case.

people seem to believe everything they see...as seen in 4x16 stiles
is always hidding something or not telling everything as seen when he
is talking to his lawyer....also patrick isn't always telling everything and
keeps information to himself even from lisbon....also some people seemed
puzzled as to how rj got the info for in order to figure out the suspects...
to me i dont thing he got it from kirkland...the minute he killed the guy in the
hospital he came off of my list,i think he has a different agenta or motives
for killing the guy...think about it who is close to patrick jane and has been
asking time and time again about the list ever since patrick started writting
on the notebook?we all know she doesn't have a poker face.as they are getting close to rj it is clear that she has a connection to rj and has tried to hide for a long long time as she stated she has many secrets odds are 100 to 1 she will make a mistake next time she is around gale bertram...how did rj knew about the list??????
somebody had to seen all the red john files way before kirland either by entering the room before kirkland,or placing cameras OR MY FAVORITE THEORY as far as i know only TWO persons had all the red john files at one point or another....SAM BOSCO AND fbi agent Luther wainwright...he looked very suspicious when he had the files in his office..so he could have kept the info and shared this with rj way before he was killed....so rj had plenty of time to gather the clues and figure it out.so rj had the files for a long time and as soon as he knew about patrick making a list he started putting the clues together way before patrick did.....makes sense to me.

1.-i don't understand how can somebody in a semidark room while wearing a mask can make such a precised shots.
2.-notice how rj is holding the gun...somebody working with a policed related background would hold the gun with both hands as jane said in an episode is a reaction that never goes away....only partridge and brett stiles don;t have the backgroung...and rj didn't used any gun...i dont know that much about guns but if you look at it closely is not your usual gun.
3.notice how the camera is always on and the boy and the girl are always looking at the monitor...which means when red john entered and killed them the camera was always on...the only one with the history with arms is cho,but he is not one of the 7....i admit i'm not the brightest light on the tree but this particulat episode insults my inteligence.you can clearly see that at least 3 different actors played rj on this episode.the one that shoots,anotherone when he turns on the steps...when he walks to the girl and when they show his face next to patrick...also you can clearly tell they used different voices when rj spoke...and you can tell the voice is not coming from the actor especially at the tiger tiger poem.there's a theory online that they used patrick's voice to say the tiger tiger poem...and when they show rj face i get the sensation that is a woman....if in fact iit is true that they used patrick's voice..you dont think they would used lisbon wearing a mask...i'm talking only when they showed the face because the body it is clearly a man's body....and when rj is walking to where the girl is...his legs are similar to cho's...really weird episode.

Just thought I would share my theory after re-watching Season 3 Episode 3. This episode works around visualize, and at one stage Patrick falls asleep in one of the visualize rooms. When he wakes up he finds a fortune cookie which contains the message "A friend is in danger and needs your help". Although the writers want us to believe that it is about Kristina Frye; what if it is a clue to Patrick's happy memory at the end of season 5. Maybe Patrick was hypnotized and who ever Red John is left this message as a hint to what he would do later on.
This then leads me on to why I believe Red John is Bret Stiles. First of, once Bret find out that the killer in this episode is his lawyer Julius, he says "Please tell me you didn't kill that young women". he then presides to slap him. Could Brett have set this all up to get Patrick into visualize and interact with him more. In this episode O'Laughlin also fist appears for the first time and in the interrogation of Julius the lawyer asks him for his cooperation "with the FBI's investigation into visualize and Bret Stiles". As Julius is being moved to the police car a visualize member by the name of Heron shoots and kills Julius. Heron looks to focused and although could be just the adrenaline of shooting someone he could also have been hypnotized by Stiles to kill this man so not to tell anyone who Bret Stiles really is. Patrick and Stiles then have a one to one discussion where Patrick says "Your safe, bravo". In the video sent to Patrick in the last episode of season 5 allegedly by Red John it contained the word "Bravo", could it be a hint by Heller that Red John feels the end is near as it almost was for Bret Stiles in season 3.
I know Bret doesn't fit the profile described by Rosalind Harker but maybe this is a false clue, after all why leave someone who you were in close contact and can describe you to the authorities without trying to manipulate the investigation.

Lorelei mentioned that PJ and RJ are a lot alike, that they could have been friends. The only person with whom PJ seems to have a "friendly" relationship with is Stiles.
Re-watch their scenes together, it's like a tit-for-tat conversation, back-and-forth witty comments.
Stiles may not fit the clue profiles we've heard from Rosalind et al. , but as we've seen over the seasons, RJ is many. That ability to bring so many into his circle, drink the perverbial kool-aid, and to have them do his bidding....
