I have two theories

1)In my humble opinion, Red John is Patrick Jane's father. Many will think that is silly, but so far there has been no explanation of what happened to the father of Jane.It makes me feel a director to insert a character in the series so significant and not use it again.Besides, in my opinion, he has several reasons to get back at PJ, after all, as far as we know, his son began to work alone, and if the PC can be a good mentalist, because his father could not.

It is Bret Stiles...yes.... the least suspected guy because of his physical characteristics...but my theory actually supprts this fact... Stiles is red john but but as he is ageing, recently the kills were done by his disciple Ray Haffner...
In episode "Red John's Rules," you hear Partridge say "Red John's been laying low for years, working through friends and proxies."
This is also confirmed by S06E06, where Stiles says that he is dying..
It was Haffner in S06E01 who killed partridge and drew smiley face on lisbon's face. We can see Haffner's hand caressing lisbon's chick while drawing smiley..

Okay so those blokes with the three dots are a diversion to think that red john is a part of an organization.what if they have their own (off the record) kind of way to track down and kill people and they are after red john? Red john could still be a lone person. I want it to be some sort of one man army anyway. also me an van pelt are a thing.
