Who knows who red John is? The writers, Simon baker perhaps? The truth is, we don't know enough about the characters to have a suspect. Most suspects have limited screen time and you know nothing about backgrounds. You are even limited to the background of Jane himself. From James mouth himself, himself and red John are showmen, and from Lorelei, Jane and rj are very similar. So you would theorize red John is a mentalist of some sorts. With that theory, you have Patrick Jane, along with that one fraud psychic guy, Ellis Mars, Brett Stiles, and with Linus Wagner being a psychiatrist, as face value mentalists. Then you have known visualize members, Brett stiles, Jason Cooper, Ray Haffner.
Next, how does Red John meet his accomplices? Rebecca, truly devoted and damaged. Todd Johnson, great family and loving father who was a police officer. Craig olaughlin, played in the nfl, FBI agent. Red John has someone in the FBI. The bomb guy, owns a convenience store, religious. Lorelei Martins. Sister killed by Rj. Red Nohn knew she had been physically abused by her boyfriend. With that said, being in law enforcement, a religios organization, or therapist is going to have to be the key. Why hasn't he killed Janes team? Why is he so attracted to Jane? Truth is, we dont know enough without making guesses.
Bob Kirkland does not have an attachment to Mirands Martins. He asked for info about run before Miranda Martins was killed. I think Kirkland has an attachment to Jane. Maybe even family, but I'm just guessing. I love the show, but I'm thinking it will have to change the format to be good next year. To end this, red John had killed no one unattached to Jane in a few years, so he has evolved into a cat and mouse game with Patrick. Why has he stopped doing what he does? All very interesting. I'm just going to say that Bruno Heller is Red John.

After i have seen the pictures of 5x22 i'm absolutely strong about my theory that Jane an RJ met in the carny long time ago but Jane thinks it happened after that RJ killed his family but he probably doesn't remember this moment.
About Kirkland: I think he isnt RJ or accomplice, he is Carter Peak (lets see 2x08) or boyfriend of Miranda Martins, who swear vengeance for his love on RJ.
What about to know 5x22 Red John's Rules:
We will see Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lorelei Martins), Jack Plotnick (Brett Partridge), Scott Anthony Leet (Roddy Turner) who is a very dangerous and violent man in the carny (Venice Beach, Los Angeles), Michael Hogan (Sean Barlow) he is an irish psychic from Janes past (the actor is too old for RJ) . Kevin Corrigan (Kirkland insn't in the cast, i worry about that RJ killled him in the season finale.
I think we have got the 7 suspect at the beginnig of the 5x22 cause the press release says:
Just as Jane narrows down the Red John suspect list to seven, Red John strikes again, and the victim has a link to Jane’s past
So one only man for our suspects feature in the season finale: Jack Plotnick (Brett Partridge) so i know the epidose is so far (2 weeks) but i think he is RJ, and Kirkland will be killed by him.
In the mentalist season 2 episode 23 R.J. whispers to P.J. "Roll tide" at the end of his poem when he reappears on the viewers right side of Patrick which is his left. Anyway at the beginning of the episode Kristina Frye also says "Roll Tide" when she is talking to the waiter if I remember it correctly. So I assume either she is R.J. or she is his accomplish or something. plus how would she know where to find the body. Though in all honesty I would find if lame if she were RJ
I think Susan Darcy is Rj's friend in the FBI because if you watch the suspects video on CBS.com, they show clips of her when they talk about RJ's friend inside the FBI. If you watch the video you will know what I mean.

Also Brenda is somehow involved because if she isn't then the whole scene of showing the audience that she's is one of Volker's accomplices but not having anyone find out would have been pointless. It had to have been to show that she cannot be trusted.
