Jimmy Gadd on twitter:

It's very exciting, so that meant CBS will have a promo soon! Sad news is that it's our last season. But hey! We'll go out with a bang.

This site will never die!!!!
Its just slow bc the show is on a very long hiatus but
when it comes back this site will be cool again.
Cbs pressured this show and ruined it.
But this year they have nothing to lose.
This is the only show ever that has a chance to end as the greatest of all time
Or simply just ehh its a good show.
Why not go out with a bang?

Being it an encore season i see them bringing back some old characters;
Erica Flynn is a definite but i could see Styles, Freye , and Lorelie coming back.
I mean Lorelie was found in a carnival setting with the words ALIVE written on a picture clear as day.
Styles died off camera and Lisbon hinted at his return as well as the actor who plays Haffner.

My slim chance theory...
Rj or the mastermind behind red john is Janes dad.
Janes dad is also Lorelies step father.
Lorelie met Rj when her step father came into her life..
Miranda met Rj when she was reunited with Lorelie and met her step dad.
Then the Ba Killed Miranda because we all know Rj does not rape people.
Lorelie and her Step dad aka Alex Jane devised a plan to take out the Ba with the help of Jane without him even knowing it.
Long shot but either way i am gonna watch, season 7 needs to get here fast!

I want to start by saying that the Mentalist is without doubt my favourite TV program ever. But the fact is, we know who Red John is. This website has served its purpose. Like someone said a few weeks back, this website has died. It was good while it lasted but there's no point having it up anymore. It's just become a place for some people to moan and others not to care. In fact, it makes me depressed each time I see it.So please, remove this website. Bring on Season Seven!

For God's sake, bring back Bret Stiles!
If the writers, producers want a great season with lots of excitement, they should at least bring back someone important from the past.
They could easily arrange for Bret Stiles to be alive, hiding somewhere in England, enjoying his money and the fact that everyone thinks he is dead, lol.
They could have one last adventure with Jane for old times sake.
One can dream, right? :)

I've been reading some of the excellent theories, thoughts and reflections on this site.

The problem for me is to isolate what I think will happen from what I want to happen.

I would like to hope that:

The last season was a "long con" - an attempt to lead everyone in the wrong direction and to set us up for a surprise in season 7.

Or, maybe, they thought that the show was about to be cancelled and tried to wrap everything up in a hurry, but left space for an alternative resolution in case they got another season to play with.

Or, they were lazy and cynical in their approach to wrapping-up both the Red John and the "will they, wont they" Jisbon arc but will revise their plan due to protests from the fan-base and (perhaps) from the cast / writers.

If any of the above are the case then we can look forward to a cracking seventh season. They will have had time to finish off the Red John story-line with style. Maybe they could begin with the murder of Lisbon. Perhaps RJ waited until Patrick dared to love again before striking against him a second time?

Also, we should see the return of Lorelei. The ONLY way she could have known the names of Patrick's suspects was that her death was faked (remember, Patrick had not finalised the list until after her death).

Brett Stiles should also return. His death was obviously faked, plus he knows way too much about Red John. He probably also knows who he is. Maybe he uses him to dispose of people?

It is also likely that someone close to Jane and Lisbon was in the (stupid, stupid, stupid) Blake society. (This really was a low point - can you really imagine a secret group of corrupt cops running around quoting William Blake to each other?)

In the final reveal I suspect that RJ is someone you would least suspect - Rigsby or GVP, etc.

OK, so that is my desire - now what I think will happen:

Nothing.

More Jisbon crap.

More murder-of-the-week high-jinks.

And the grande finale? The wedding of the year!

A third possibility is that Cho will finally flip-out and get shot holding up a liquor store :)

In everyone's opinion, besides season 6-What was the worse season of the Mentalist?

For me, it has to be Season 5. I feel like the RJ Storyline hit the wall and it wasn't until the fall of Season 6 that it SEEMED the show was recapturing the initial excitement with RJ.

Simon Baker at a recent WB press conference:

“The experience that we had last year, in the last season—it was really interesting because you have the arc of what a story is and what the story should be. Then you have the idea of the business outside of that, of whether it will continue or whether the story is finished.

“If you ask me, the original story that we started off with and laid out in the pilot episode many years ago—that story finished probably around the end of the second season. When was Bradley Whitford (in the show as a man who convinced Patrick he was Red John but was not)? Like third season? I don’t know. They all blend into one."

He goes on to talk about Jisbon so I won't include it here.  Just found his "opinion" (whilst among WB execs) to be interesting and similar to some thoughts expressed here recently.
