I think the clue in 06x01 Bruno Heller was talking about (if there's one) is right in this scene. Not a theory, just some thoughts.

- Thers's a red thing on the table (00:10) but I think this is irrelevant

- Look at PJ's face at the moment when Partridge comes (00:30), could it be that some element made him realize Brett is RJ?

- 'You truly don't know?' Ok now imagine PJ and RJ are two masterminds and RJ is Partridge, it could be that when they're facing each other (01:35), both of them know PJ has figured out that Partridge id RJ, that is why in the same episode, Partridge fakes his own death to try and make PJ believe he is not RJ.

- There's the same cop walking around in the background. Look carefully (00:14 by the boat, 00:27, 00:48, 01:13, 01:33). Why would he walk randomly around the crime scene?

Just thoughts guys, peace. <3

Some curious facts about Bob Kirkland:

- Why was he drinking Jane's wife and daughter's favorite drink ?
- Since he was seeking RJ, why did he not ask Lennon about RJ's identity instead of killing him?
- What did he mean by 'just do it here' (what he told R.Smith before he got shot in the back)

- Most important, the fact that he told Jane that he never found his twin bro's dead body and never heard of him again, I think Michael Kirkland has definitely something to do with RJ. Kirkland asking around 'Do you recognize me, have you ever seen me before?' has something to do with his twin bro and all these details and questions remain unanswered.

Though I hope RJ isn't Sheriff or Smith, because com'on guys those men just popped up from nowhere! Bertram looks pretty shady so I believe either he's involved with RJ or the Tyger Tyger's somehow or both, either he's just doing his job searching for a dangerous serial killer.

Now Stiles: he's definitely involved with RJ, either he knows him (I am quite sure he does) cause he was working in that farm of Visualize's, and Bret has proven to be aware of RJ's plans several times.
Ray Haffner has the look, is a member of Visualize, which is why lots of fans' money is on him, though I think he is either not clever enough to be RJ or acts like it. I know he likes Teresa, he's good at whistling and blah blah blah but I'd be disappointed if he was RJ as far as I'm concerned.

So let's sum it up: Smith and Sheriff aren't definitely Red John (too many would be disappointed) but might work for him. Bertram too and I think that'd be great news for the fans (I mean I would find it amazing, like 'omg and Bertram was one of RJ's accomplices all that time'). Stiles does know him and maybe even protects him. It is not Haffner, moreover he appeared too late in the series.

Kirkland appeared too late in the series too but he fits the role more than anyone does. I know he's dead but there might be some trick involving his twin brother, let's keep an eye on them.
Finally there's Partridge: many's favorite. He was in the very first episode, on the first crime scene which guess what, was RJ's copycat. He's dead too but let's not forget this show is all about tricks and the culprit is always on screen since the beginning, they never pop up of nowhere.

So my money's on Kirkland or Partridge.

Though I must admit CBI Ron fits the role too, I mean he's been in the background since the beginning, I think we should also keep an eye on him as he might get more important over the next few episodes.
