Who is Red John?

CONTAINS SPOILERS about RJ meeting PJ!

I read in the TV Guide that PJ kills RJ in a park.  Remember the pigeon scene in the park after learning
of Sophie’s death?  Like it was some sort
of clue, as were the pigeons present at Partridge’s death and in the bell tower.  If RJ hates pigeons to the point of fear and
Jane figures this out, perhaps Jane meets RJ in a park --where there’s sure to
be pigeons-- to have an upper hand.

If McAllister is RJ, he's probably not using his given name. So, he most likely took the name McAllister.
McAllister means "son of Alistair," the Gaelic form of Alexander. What do the last 3 letters spell backwards? R-e-d. Of course, PJ's father's name is Alex. Perhaps RJ has a connection to Jane from the carnival?

I remember Heller once said he chose Patrick's name because it was a good Irish name. Would be interesting if he chose a Scottish one for RJ.

I posted this the other day: http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/8313

Not trying to re-post theories, but the previous post was before the TV Guide article came out. In summary, back in May, Robin Tunney said she was NOT surprised that Bertram or Stiles were on the list, but was surprised that McAllister and Partridge were.  Then recently she said she was surprised by who RJ was and would've been also had she been that actor.  To me, that removes Bertram and Stiles from the suspect pool.

CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Just a few more observations about RJ, some of which is from the latest TV Guide article that contains spoilers. After reading the TV Guide it implies RJ is the leader of the Tiger Conspiracy.
So, I’m pretty sure “he is mar” = “he is mar(ked)” with a tattoo.
Baker says that RJ wants to be close to PJ.  Stiles calls it “a form of love” (also notice in Fire and Brimstone who is on either side of Stiles).  How many of our 7 suspects have gone out of their way to be near PJ? Sheriff McAllister wants PJ to call him, “Tom.”  He tells PJ it was his “pleasure to help, anytime.”  He stays around when he wasn’t asked and saves PJ’s life.  Even if he’s afraid of heights (?), he climbs on the roof to do so.
I’ve mentioned both his and RJ’s being ambidextrous before.  McAllister shoots and shakes hands with his right hand.  RJ shoots and draws the smiley with his right hand.  McAllister helps Jane up with his left hand. RJ drinks tea with his left hand.  They both sometimes wear wedding bands and sometimes don’t.

Another thing is his voice.  He’s the only one of the 7 whose voice isn’t natural.  I think RJ’s “real” voice is soft, but as sheriff, he projects a gruffer tone.  Of course, those of us familiar with Xander Berkeley know he’s also a voice over artist and has played a variety of characters convincingly.  As I said in a previous post, the actor playing RJ was surprised and flattered, so it stands to reason that the same actor did NOT do the original RJ voiceovers.  ICYMI: Plotnick has previously stated that he always played Partridge as if he were RJ, so I am in doubt if he would be surprised.
Remember as Dumar Tanner aka Sheriff Ted Hardy lay dying, he uttered, “Red John shhh”….. “sheriff,” perhaps?

I’m not positive who Red John is, but will make the
following observations.

Heller said there was a clue in the final sequence of S06
E01.  That can be a number of things: the
666, the pigeons, the knife, but I tend to think it has to do with the clown face
on Lisbon.  Something tells me we’ll discover RJ was a
part of the carnival at some point in Jane’s life and that he resents Jane.  I wouldn’t be shocked if RJ knew Jane in the
carnival and was jealous of his life with Angela and Charlotte.

Tangie Ambrose will be a guest star in E08, “Red John,”
playing Samantha Barsocky from the carnival circuit.  This tells me there is some connection with the carnival.

Nick Nordella will play “Young Man” in E07 and E08.  Check out his twitter feed at https://twitter.com/nicknordella
.  I think he’s trying to hint that he’s
playing a young RJ.  His description
would match a young Haffner, MacAllister and even Bertram.

There are still things about Van Pelt that remain mysteries
– her psychic aunt, her sister’s suicide, the deep secret she’s never shared
with anyone, etc.  I feel that RJ plays a
part in her life and that she may have a vendetta against him, as well.

It seems to me that RJ is killing people associated with the
Tiger organization.  I know he himself
uttered it to Jane, but maybe they’re also enemies of RJ?  But maybe not, since Smith killed Kirkland.  Who knows?

S06 E05 is entitled “The Red Tattoo.”  Perhaps “he is mar” is “he is marked”?  The titles of E06 and E07 are “Fire and
Brimstone” and “The Great Red Dragon”.
These are images from Revelation, as is “the mark of the beast,” so for
now, my bet is that “The Red Tattoo” also has apocalyptic undertones.

I’m not really sure who RJ is.  The 7 heads of the dragon is an interesting
theory and would explain why it’s hard to pinpoint RJ to one individual.  But it could mean other things, too, ie,
healing of a fatal wound, etc.  Still,
I’m just not sure.
