Who is Red John?

Theories of RJM (8)

Of all the reruns to air tonight, they choose the one where he hallucinates his daughter, and drinks the tea at the end of the episode to see her again.

I had once posted that everything since this episode was a dream, and the real Red John reveal was yet to come.

Playing this one makes me think they're hinting at that.

Hope...

You can still salvage this, Heller.  Here's how.

S5E2 ends with Jane drinking belladonna tea, so he can see his daughter again.

Everything since then has been Jane's hallucination.

It's the oldest trope in the book, and it's still better than what you gave us last night.

Sad thing is...

I care about these characters and will likely watch the rest of the season anyway.

But will I ever let myself do this again, with any series?  No.

This episode, and the entire Red John storyline, could have been saved with this shot at the end:

We are looking over a man's shoulder at the TV, which is showing a news story about the death of Bertram and Red John.

The man picks up a cup of tea, and in that thin, high voice says:

"The game is over, Patrick... and I won!"

If the leaked, disappointing Red John episode is indeed the real one -- maybe it's our fault.

There are only so many logical ways to put together five seasons' worth of clues.  We found all the GOOD ones!

Heller
couldn't use any of them without the risk that someone would accuse him of plagiarizing from
whoisredjohn.com.  The only original idea he could come up with was...
that.

This is something like, "infinite monkeys + infinite typewriters = Shakespeare," except we beat Shakespeare to it.

<...sigh...>

The leaked episode is a red herring, just like Patrick's list of seven.  ;)

Not accusing Lisbon, just making an observation about her.

Some theories say she has been bugged and so Red John knows everything Jane and everyone else is saying to her.

I've noticed she always wears a cross around her neck... but then I went back and watched the first two shows (Pilot, Red Hair and Silver Tape), and she was not wearing the cross.

Did anyone notice when she started wearing it?

Call me crazy... but I'm hoping RJ is Timothy Carter.

He's the LAST person we expect.  He's been dead for years!  Absolutely no one on this website thinks it's him.  He's not even an "accuse" option.

We never did learn why the morgue attendant that dealt with his body, was killed.  Maybe it was to conceal his "resurrection?"

And after Stiles's little ritual, with the painting of the acolyte's face mirroring the painting of Lisbon's face at the end of "Desert Rose," I'm still expecting a resurrection -- of someone who was believed to be dead at that moment in time.  I originally thought, Partridge, but Carter would also fit the bill.

We've been promised a literally jaw-dropping finale, and at this point none of us would be surprised if RJ were ANYONE on the list.  TC as RJ would blow us all away.

I doubt it's him... but I'm hoping.

If it's not, Partridge would be my choice -- but I'll be happy whoever it is, if it's a good story well told.
